Still don't trust him. The P12 is a weak conference, and I would almost put money on the NCAA ends up sniffing around at Oregon if Cristobal stays there long term. Lastly, once he lost his NFL QB Oregons offense this year hasn't been good.
Criminal player mismanagement:
Should have been getting, at minimum, 5-7 targets each game. Hyatt’s ceiling could rival that of Hunter, and may possibly be higher due to his speed alone.

this is from an AU former players group text:
1. Mario is still the leading candidate and interest is mutual.
2. AU fans do not want Freeze. There is some animosity there.
3. Mario was set to announce he was leaving, but with them being put in the PAC-12 championship game due to UW's COVID issue, he had to push back his zoom to 6:30. Expect him to finish the season with Oregon and then leave for AU. Chance he is using it to get more money from Oregon, but doubt that.
Expect an announcement soon.

"Should be" doesn't really matter when historically they've never been good. Hell, they've never even been mediocre. They went 0-12 the year prior to him and 1-11 the year after.FIU should be a good job. All kinds of local talent against very very average conference competition. His tenure there was a big failure
Exactly, long term outlook and quality of life are driving decisions of lots of coaches these days. Not always. Campbell has already made 3.5 million for 3 years. That's already generational money, compared to his Dad being a high school football coach. Since ISU loves him, he could probably be there 10 more years at a minimum of 3.5 per year with obvious increases. That's a minimum of 35 million dollars and most likely 40+. Otherwise, he could take Michigan at 5-6 million per year, fail after 4 years, and he's made slightly less and looking for another job.
We are talking millions either way, and being comfortable in life for you and your family does mean something at that point.
I actually hope Pruitt is back next year. I like the guy, especially in previous years when he was so fiery on the sideline and showed how much he cared for the team in post game press conferences. He’s someone I’d have enjoyed playing for.
We are just going to **** up the next hire anyways. I really hope he makes the appropriate changes and continues to develop as a HC. I think pulling the trigger on a guy every 3-4 years has made this job toxic in the minds of football coaches across the country. Would love to see some stability for once.
Things change fast in coaching hires. Dude went from a strong candidate to basically hired in the span of one text. From poster on VQ:

I must say the Gus situation is giving me Rick Barnes vibes.
We hire a terrible HC in Donnie, he's average and then Barnes is let go despite having results for the program -he- built up and we move Donnie out without having to pay his buyout or anything to hire Barnes.
Now we've hired a terrible HC in Pruitt, he's average and then Gus is let go despite having results for Auburn and now he's sitting there with no buyout or anything to deal with.
He's got a few ex-TN guys on staff that Fulmer has ties to as well in Steele & Garner. Not sure if we try to hire Gus, but interesting of all the names on the list I bet Fulmer knows him best.
No one is happy with this year and no one is happy with Pruitt. However, I think we're going to be really good next year, under Pruitt. And we will finally start to see some light at the end of this dark tunnel.
Everybody says that, but what is the alternative?I actually hope Pruitt is back next year. I like the guy, especially in previous years when he was so fiery on the sideline and showed how much he cared for the team in post game press conferences. He’s someone I’d have enjoyed playing for.

We are only going to make a change if we can ensure one of our top guys identified are willing to make the move to TN. Additionally you have a sect of donors at odds with each other as usual. One set willing to make a move and go big which includes getting rid of Phil Fulmer and another set who is ok with seeing JP can turn this around with a new developmental support staff and the benefit of a Qb who can actually read a defense and do what is proper given the circumstance.
