tbf, he has done a lot better job at minnesota than I thought he would. Going 11-2 there is probably the equivalent of us winning the SEC.
I think winning 11 games at Minnesota is harder than making the playoffs here.

At programs like Minnesota there’s not really a long future plan for coaches. Once you find a little something special you have to go all in for one year. Because winning 11 games that one year is probably the best Minnesota will do for the next 20 years.

Both of those have better resumes than the last three coaches we hired
Well if our last 3 coaching hires is the bar of success, be prepared to stay in the basement of the SEC.

Chadwell has never been in a major college football program and doesn't know what success looks like on that level. He has a mediocre overall record coaching sub par college football

Best we can do now behind Freeze, yes. We need someone that can take us to 8-9 wins consistently. That has a chance to compete for SEC title every 3-4 years. We are a dumpster fire right now guys.

We aren't the Vols of 90's or early 00's.
Exactly, it truly is the best we can do there is no future success.

VQ guys opened the podcast today saying the administration above Fulmer wants the football program to win, and that people should stop saying they don't care about winning.

Uh, no ****? I don't think the VQ guys understand the point we are making when we say that.

People want all kinds of stuff. I want a million dollars to fall down my chimney. The fact of the matter is the administration wants to win like I want 5 dollars off my next oil change.

It would be cool, but it isn't worth the effort to fill out the form to get the coupon to make it happen.
I think that they want to win really badly. More than you want $5 off an oil change.

However, they want one thing more badly than winning - they want to be able to take credit for it. Being able to take credit for winning is more important to them than actually winning. Figuratively speaking the boosters sit around a table, and there are at least as many proposals are there are boosters. That's problem #1. Problem #2 is that they all want their particular proposal to be the one that is adopted, even if there are other proposals at the table that are better. Too many chiefs, not enough Indians. It isn't about finding the best idea and then moving forward with everybody behind that idea...it's about making sure their idea is the one that gets used so they can get all the pats on the back for it.

There are people within that athletic department and within the group of boosters that if it came down to a rival booster getting credit for success or losing, they'd rather lose.

I've wondered that myself. Not just about freeze but another coach. I would like to think we are ahead of the game for once but I doubt it.

Perhaps it a little of both

Fulmer believes Jeremy has a small
Chance to get it figured out but knows next year is the year freeze gets out of jail and is the backup

If Chadwell or Napier is the best we can do, I will except the fact that 7 wins is probably the best I'll ever see Tennessee for the rest of my life.
Napier has a great resume. He was OC at Arizona St and Clemson. He was the WR coach at Bama, he is 27-11 as a HC, 20-4 the last two seasons coaching a team coming off 3 straight losing seasons. All the LSU fans on their board want O fired and Napier hired.
