He hasn’t regressed. How did this rumor get started?

My own eyes tell me that regarding pass coverage. But I’ve also heard it on some broadcasts too. And for me it’s the entire defense looks worse and the inability to cover the slant IS on him. Could be scheme but he’s gotten burnt a dozen times this year with it. He’s phenomenal and actually my favorite player. I just think he’s an example of how Pruitt isn’t coaching them up.

Tbf, SC is 5th in the conference in total offense, with way less talented players across the board, and a transfer QB who had 0 time to jell with his receivers.
Siap but USCjr is 10th in the sec every major offensive metric - scoring, YPP, and yards per game.

Also, all the Bobo talk is from random chatter on TB's show. If Bobo is hired this off season to join this staff it will be to replace Wienke as QB coach - NOT as OC. Big Jim is linked to CJP at this point.

And that wouldn't be a bad hire if you look at the QB's Bobo has coached while at UGA.

We shouldn’t be talking about being an upper echelon SEC team until we are a middle tier one consistently.
Give me 7-9 wins the next 5 years and then set that goal
My goodness no. Butch had us at 8 in year 3. 2-3 years max there and we should be talking trips to Atlanta after. This isn't UK or SCAR that cant recruit very well. TN at its peak can and should be up there with the ELITE. Starting in year 1 a coach should have us close to Atlanta in year 5.
Year 1: rebuild give me 6 wins
Year 2: 7-8 wins
Year 3: 7-8 wins
Year 4: 10 wins
Year 5: 10-11 wins ( in conversation to make Atlanta)
It really isn't that hard the problem is TN doesn't want to hire a guy that can do that, they'd rather go cheap.

Being knowledgeable about how to efficiently run a machine doesn't mean you know how to design and build your own machine.

Saban is an extremely effective CEO. Pruitt is someone who he hired to carry out tasks as directed by him. Saban planned, designed, and had a machine built and hired Pruitt and others to operate it. When this light comes on, pull this lever...when the machine makes this particular noise go over and press this button, that kind of thing.

Pruitt, like many other Saban assistants, is an order-taker. I know that sounds demeaning, but it really isn't, because it does take some knowledge and ability to be able to run a complicated machine. However, that doesn't mean Pruitt knows the first thing about going somewhere else and planning, designing, and building his own machine and bringing in capable people to run it. The fact that he worked for Saban probably gives him an inflated sense of self-confidence, hence his hard-headed attitude.
Well said.

Also not sure if posted, but Pruitt said on his Wed. night press conference his understanding is any SR returning doesn't count against the 85. Thats pretty huge if true.

You don’t have to have a true dual threat QB to have your offense built around RPO’s
Do the 2 have anything to do with each other? I'd say a running threat QB helps with any scheme. But don't think it has anything to do with RPOs...afaik. It's not like CBJ with his zone read offense.

Okay... but this isn’t what you said. You said “I knew Pruitt wasn’t the guy when he didn’t get anyone over Bama or ga in that two week class” you were wrong there and trying to give yourself credit for something that wasn’t true.
And a class with Toto, Crouch, Morris, Wright and Gray is not average...much less the HISTORICAL version. 😏

He’s had three classes. The ‘18 one was the worst in modern UT history. You can makes excuses for it but it was still awful. ‘19 was historically average for Tennessee. ‘20 was very good.

On the whole, he’s been below average in this department when we probably needed top 5 classes to make up for his lack of development. And he’s totally whiffed at corner and pass rusher. Two areas he was supposedly an expert.

The ‘17 class was way worse than the ‘18 class. Butch just signed a higher quantity that year.

Go look at those classes again.

It is true.
Maybe this is super hypothetical and out there, but I could see that really benefiting a program like UK. They've probably got a lot of seniors that aren't really NFL guys, and if Stoops could get some to come back, that could make them extremely dangerous.

I wouldn’t say it’s *random*, I remember a report we were trying to convince Bobo to retire at CSU and take the coordinator job before Chaney.

Sure, but the only time the roles were reversed is when Cutcliffe took the Ole Miss job and left immediately.

Tennessee wished him well and understood he had a job to do.

Pruitt decided a title at Alabama was more important than a recruiting class at Tennessee. While a title is the ultimate goal, being the head man at another program should get 100% of your attention.

I didn’t care about it at the time - but in hindsight it’s a red flag given his comments about having a job at Alabama ASAP if we fire him.

I didn't care much for it either. Maybe that's the reason he stayed and coached though? To make sure he had a job if he failed here.

I still think Fulmer is gonna fire Pruitt. IMO he's working on a deal without the Haslam's money because he knows if he waits a year he may not get another chance to hire a second coach. There's just no way Phil is sitting back watching us get our doors blown off every week and not having a plan to fix it. Him being tied to Pruitt becomes much more relevant and a problem in 2021. Keeping him another year only hurts him because Pruitt hasn't shown he can fix things. It's gonna be a quick "Pruitt fired, new coach in 2-3 days later" move.

I hope you are correct

That’s my thoughts as well.
