Sure, but the only time the roles were reversed is when Cutcliffe took the Ole Miss job and left immediately.
Tennessee wished him well and understood he had a job to do.
Pruitt decided a title at Alabama was more important than a recruiting class at Tennessee. While a title is the ultimate goal, being the head man at another program should get 100% of your attention.
I didn’t care about it at the time - but in hindsight it’s a red flag given his comments about having a job at Alabama ASAP if we fire him.
Guess you haven’t seen him in pass coverage... the slant is his kryptonite
I’m getting tired of that narrative, myselfYes you’re right, us not being able to defend a slant is Henry T’s fault.
Let’s just dismiss that he’s averaging more total tackles/game, more solo tackles/game, has more TFL than he had all of last season, has 0.5 sack more than last year (although I admit he has 1), and has one of our very few INTs which he took to the house.
I never said he wasn’t good. He’s been solid in certain areas but definitely has some gaping holes in his game.Yes you’re right, us not being able to defend a slant is Henry T’s fault.

this. we're not gonna win the East or start going to NY6 bowls tomorrow...but give us competent QB play and i'll show probably 5 more wins between this year and last.People declaring we can’t beat the UKs or whatever next year fail to realize that almost all our losses can be traced to horrific JG play.
If Shrout or Bailey show a pulse, then we’re gonna be a much much better team.
F*** THIS! HELL NO...NO BO-BO!From Basilio's Blog this morning:
Hearing All Kinds Of Chatter That Pruitt Is Pitching A Reworked Coaching Staff:
Are you excited about the possibility of Mike Bobo at OC for Tennessee's 2021 football team? This is highly comical to consider. Can't Pruitt get out of his comfort zone? Orange Throat discussed this yesterday but you could literally see as many as 6 coaching changes for next season. When you start doing the math it's going to get very expensive to bring a fledgling Jeremy Pruitt back in 2021. It's simple math. Tennessee won't attract highly sought after coaches in today's market without guaranteed two or even three year deals. We're talking about piling on potentially another $7 million in buyout money at the end of this deal. That's quite the investment when you stop and think about how little Pruitt has shown.

Okay... but this isn’t what you said. You said “I knew Pruitt wasn’t the guy when he didn’t get anyone over Bama or ga in that two week class” you were wrong there and trying to give yourself credit for something that wasn’t true. He’s had three classes. The ‘18 one was the worst in modern UT history. You can makes excuses for it but it was still awful. ‘19 was historically average for Tennessee. ‘20 was very good.
On the whole, he’s been below average in this department when we probably needed top 5 classes to make up for his lack of development. And he’s totally whiffed at corner and pass rusher. Two areas he was supposedly an expert.
And why is that? Henry looked like he was going to explode at the half of the Georgia game.Bass, recruiting has not been good enough. It just hasn’t.
He’s recruited one difference maker on defense (Henry T) and even that guy has been pretty meh this year.
I knew we were in trouble with the '18 class because if Pruitt were the recruiter we had pegged him to be, he would have picked off some guys from Bama and Georgia.
Yeah, but that ain't enough. I'll give you DWA, but I think Bama was pulling away from JJP. Propst seemed very desperate there toward the end.
I think the 2020 class was legitimately good, I won't argue that.
What I'm saying is it was a bad sign when he was hired and we didn't immediately get some "new coach" momentum. Dooley got it and Kiffin did too. I don't remember Butch's first class, I think that was the class where he brought Weisman and Helm from Ohio.
The biggest thing that happened from the time Pruitt was hired to signing day is that we lost Cade Mays and let Penix go.
Well doing that is another red flag in hindsight, isn’t it?

it would be ironic considering how much fun we made of Bobo as students when he was the QB at UGA.....From Basilio's Blog this morning:

No, I think I said at the time that the initial class wasn’t good enough. But I will admit I was so excited that he wasn’t Schiano and that the coaching search ended that I may have been a little more optimistic than usual.Okay... but this isn’t what you said.
