As for Shrout, I noticed not just him but everyone else played with an extra gear when he was in. It basically looked like what we heard in offseason that something had clicked but Pruitt dumbass yanked him after one mistake vs KY. When you never know what could have been if the version of shrout we saw Saturday is what we could have seen vs Arky and Auburn. I feel bad for Shrout as he has never been given a fair shake. He showed out vs S Carolina then gets pulled really for no reason vs I think UAB. I bet he starts vs Vandy.

The way the QB's are handled here is sheer lunacy. Shrout did have a lot of command/snap on his throws and in hindsight I agree he could have been more productive than 2, but I cannot understand why they pulled Bailey given the circumstance on Saturday.

^^^This is the correct answer as to why Pruitt is being retained.

Amazing how many posters clamoring for a coaching change forget the athletic department $$$ losses (not just from football) sustained this year, with no guarantee that next year is going to be different.

Vandy worst run defense in SEC (maybe better than Ole Miss). Run Gray 400 times and use Play Action. Hope we don't come out this week and decide to chunk it all over the lot.

They money for firing Pruitt was always going to come from boosters writing the check.

Phil would do some last-minute maneuvering to keep his job if it became clear that Pruitt had to go, yes. He'd cut the cord if it came down to Pruitt's job or his. But he absolutely is going to keep him until he's exhausted every last option. You're right that they aren't old buddies, but they are so closely attached in a professional sense. It isn't like Currie hired Pruitt, then Currie was fired.

well, it's 10 days to the ESP and we knew there was going to be attrition, and have known it for months.

the timing, the losing....makes it look like something it may not be.....DJ was one that i think a lot of people speculated on not being in this class as a potential git, plus, it's been known for a while that FSU was his favorite, and a legit offer there would be difficult to overcome if we did want to keep him..... TLewis has been discussed since the day he committed as someone that would have to go the distance....

McGee is the one i think kinda hurt the most, and likely has something to do with direction of the program.

imo, the bigger deal is the guys we missed on late....due to the direction of the program...Green, Mimms, and a few others that we've seen go bye bye.....

it is what it is, we're having an awful season. but i'm not gonna get upset about the class until/unless guys like Salter, Brown, Brooks etc... start wavering....that's when you'd know.....for now, it can easily be argued that the attrition we're going thru now would be the same if we were 4-4 or better.

But pivoting to Dooley instead of giving Cutcliffe the program was the killer. That one move explains exactly why we are where we are. I believe him when he says that - I believe it was Muschamp and Wittingham who turned us down. But you allow the mess to force you to hire a .500 coach from Louisiana Tech just because his dad was a good coach 25 years prior. Hamilton did that because he didn't want Fulmer back around the complex and he knew he couldn't keep him away if Cutcliffe was the HC.

Butch was a fine hire - he was a proven winner at Cincinnatti and brought the kind of recruiting cheese this program needed at the time. He's a less intelligent Bruce Pearl. It was very close to succeeding.

Pruitt was a fine hire at the time as well - just because he's going to get fired does not mean the process didn't work.

I don’t ever really hear anything like inside info or anything. But one rumor I did hear was that things were almost done with Wittingham in 2010, but one of our boosters (IDK, but not Halsam) quashed it while the contract was en route to Utah because he’s Mormon and they thought it would be an issue culturally and in recruiting. Again, that’s like one of the few rumors I’ve ever even heard, and I don’t know how true it is.

yep., he sucked at seeing pressures.....but i agree, in general, his pocket *presents was pretty good for a true freshman....you can work with that. he needs some work in the off season, but i didn't see anything that scared me away from thinking he can be good for us....relatively soon.
