Hypothetical question: if you found out Tennessee was working on a deal with Scott Satterfield, how would you react to that?

They are probably smart enough to not trot JG for 3/4 of a season with Shrout and Bailey sipping Gatorade at a major discount to what we are paying now.

After taking a little time to stew on another double digit loss I’ll say this. I’m officially off the Pruitt train, I tend to give coaches the benefit of the doubt but it’s painfully obvious Pruitt is in over his head. I understand what he inherited I do, but a good head coach doesn’t loose games by 20+ on a consistent basis even with lesser talent (look at Ole Miss, Miss St, Arkansas) good coaches don’t talk about players not executing in year 3, good coaches don’t have to burn timeouts at least once a game because we’re not lined up properly and I could go on. My message to Fulmer is this, there is no shame in admitting a mistake the fans know the s**t situation you came into and will understand if move on in a timely manner but if you wait until next year to fire Pruitt you risk tarnishing a Hall of Fame legacy with the fan base. I have no idea who the next coach would be but I do know there are a ton of very good coaches available that would want this job, don’t wait a year too long and miss on them..... Rant over.
Almost 24hrs later and I still feel the same, make the move.

Doug Matthews makes me sick

IF pruitt doesn’t have success he has only himself to blame, but anyone that thinks he won’t be here next year is wasting their time talking about it. The AD has enough money for staff changes.
Several assistant coaches are not developing players. That’s a under statement.
He thinks we have 2 QB’s that can play, Strout and Bailey. I tend to agree. Yes, Strout played against a base defense, but I also saw the team pick up their level of play when he was in the game.
Matthews also said that Pruitt had to decide that if he was going to be a head coach or a game day coach. Trying to do to much as a DC and DL coach.
His name is Shrout.

Be happy it’s not Pruitt but he disappointed that we didn’t aim higher.,....

But then picking us to go 8-4 in 2021 by august.
Yeah, I like Satterfield but I don’t love him.

I’d need a VFL heavy staff to feel like he’s trying to win me over. Lol.

But the positives would be he knows how to build a program and knows the area really well.

Another reason we need Pruitt gone and someone else in. Pruitt is a Bammer always will be a Bammer at heart. We need a coach that loves TN and wants TN to succeed or at least respects what TN is and can be. I don't think that's Pruitt, im not saying he isn't trying, but he most likely was planning on using this job as a stepping stone to become Saban's replacement. Remember the first time Pruitt ran through the T, when asked what was his answer to how it felt, "Its different." That doesn't sound like a guy that loves and has embraced TN. Think about when Majors and Fulmer took over the program, what would their reactions have been? I bet either one would have had tears in tier eyes. We need someone that cares as much as them, or at least respects the program for what it is as much as they did. Freeze would, Napier would, I believe Satterfield would covet an opportunity like TN. Kiffin would if he came back because he knows he messed up.

Praying for your son, your family, and you @VolsDoc81TX. I know you said you’re working to keep him close - and others have offered up a few locations - but north of Atlanta, there is a place - No Longer Bound. It’s a year long program that is faith based. If nothing else, there are guys there who could be another resource/counsel for you as you all walk through this.

I missed whatever is happening with @VolsDoc81TX but I hope nothing but the best for him and his. Doc is good people.

It probably would never happen, but here's an idea I had late last night as well.
Napier has a better resume than Chadwell, Fulmer gets both together and offers Napier the HC job, but gives Chadwell Chaney money to run the offense and be AHC. Fulmer then has the guys meet with Tee and Jay to see if they can work well with the new coaches. The get Terry Fair back as DB coach and load the staff up with VFL's. Steele for DC.

Right, but I can promise you we’re not going to fire him without floating a trial balloon to the fanbase in some way. Hubbs, Lowe, someone, is going to write a “a loss to Vanderbilt would be the end” piece.
This is where im at. The fans are done, but the Vq guys haven't written the article that sounds like the kiss of death yet.
