No, Gruden rumors were to force Currie to make a move due to booster and fan base pressure. Currie was the most incompetent lame duck AD at any power 5 school. Currie pissed off a lot of powerful people when he refused to listen to reason and instead delayed what needed to be done. I said this 3 years ago and I say it today - UT Vols fan base collectively underestimate their influence if it is focused. In terms of Freeze, boosters have definitely had early informal conversations with his people and other coaches to gauge interest. Not saying a move is being made but if UT loses to Vanderbilt this season then I am placing my money on a change being made.

I thought the Gruden rumors was because he was considering taking the job?!

Yeah, I'll just pull for my second and third favorite teams, Ohio State and South Carolina (I live here, and after all, they did fire Muschamp so I can be interested in them again) and maybe ... Liberty.

I've found it hard to get interested in some of the smaller schools, such as Liberty or Coastal Carolina, because when they start winning, someone comes along and snatches up their coach, and they go back to ... not winning again. It wouldn't be hard to get interested in them, if they could sustain a little bit of success.

I tried to latch onto UGA with my mother in law. She bought me a shirt and everything. It just doesn't feel the same. That being said, I can't do this anymore if we are not going to attempt to be competitive anymore even. Maybe I'll start following a team from another conference so I don't feel so wrong haha. I just don't know what to do. I quit being emotionally invested already, so why waste time too? Looking at the schedule, if we see the same level of play next year we could very well go 2-10.

Everyone could smell the stink on that program while it was happening. It doesn't take a genius to realize something has to be wrong when Ole Miss is beating Alabama at the height of the Alabama dynasty.

That's the kind of win-at-all cost attitude that got all of Ole Miss's games forfeited. The Ole Miss fans can look back at the glory days when their program did well, but are now crap again and have Lame Kiffin as a head coach.

I dont give a rip what he's able to do at Liberty. Tell me what kind of competition he's up against? I'm sure if Freeze were a high school coach playing against other high schoolers then he'd be doing well there too. But this is the SEC. He cant take 2 star players and beat Alabama. He had to cheat to win at Ole Miss. Cause it's Ole Miss.

he's damaged goods. We're damaged goods. We're perfect together. He would be a fool to go someplace else. Even if he came to Tennessee at a slightly lower than market value oh, he would get that raise after he proved he could still win. It's hard to imagine us bringing in a blockbuster coach after asking the coaching staff to take a pay cut. I think other universities are in the same squeeze were in. Nobody is going to throw him a bucket of money. Tennessee is the only team in the SEC that is really looking to hire potentially that actually has an unlimited ceiling. South Carolina is where careers go to die.

Idk what he would do at this point in his life but he said while he was at Ole Miss that his dream job used to be at Tennessee. Hell he stopped by Neyland on his honeymoon. At Lambuth, he stated Neyland stadium was a special place to him. There is zero doubt whether he would take the job. The question is will we offer him the job?

It not that hard to find, do a simple Hugh Freeze and Briarcrest search. Ask anyone you know from the Briarcrest family at that time, go read the articles yourself, I really don't care but acting like this is just some rumor made up out of thin air is just as ridiculous as you accusing someone of spreading "rumors" in this case. Those women are on record, you don't have to believe them but you also aren't going to tell me how I can feel about their accounts of the situation.

Could just go Basketball exclusive and not invest in football. That is my first step if this hot mess is not addressed

Lol, I'm an all or none kind of personality. I'll definitely be watching basketball this year, but I need a football team for next year haha. I'm going to try and make this work out to where I can enjoy both seasons

Sounds ridiculous but i would believe this is about true. I think we were somewhat close to getting him as OC. I'm not sure if Fulmer blocked that or if Sankey stepped in like he did with Saban.
