When Fulmer was named AD, I was against it. I know he is VFL and I want him to succeed just like I want Pruitt to succeed. My greatest fear was that CPF would want credit for resurrecting the football program and hire accordingly. I was afraid he would not want a proven coach instead he would want a coach to mold, mentor, and meddle. I hope that my fears have not become a reality, but this extension has really backfired. Fulmer’s solution will be get a new assistants, but it may be too late. I hope CPF surprises me and proves me wrong. From a Yahoo article (This will keep it from getting clicks)
Tennessee Volunteers
When you hire an unqualified athletic director Part 1: You get what’s happening at Tennessee, where Phillip Fulmer bid against himself to give Jeremy Pruitt an extension and raise this offseason. It’s a classic move for a novice AD. On the West Coast they call this “pulling a Lynn Swann” for his Clay Helton extension. Pruitt’s buyout is more than $12.5 million, which considering the miserable state of Tennessee’s finances before the pandemic would seem to be untenable. But with Tennessee, emotion and meddling boosters have long won out over logic. The Vols are 2-4, and there’s a clear path to a 3-7 finish. If there’s one thing we’ve learned about Tennessee the last dozen years, a complete administrative mess is the baseline expectation.
It's obvious someone is in Lowe's ear to keep pressing this statement. I would assume Freeze's agent.
If he can get the Auburn job he'll go. I don't think he'd take the SC job but I could be wrong.
Last few games I have wanted just to turn off the games in the 4th quarter. I have never had that feeling before.I will honestly say this is the first time in my life watching VOLS fb that Idgas anymore. I’ll still tune into here and the games, but my “want” for this program to be relevant has just about completely diminished.

Hire Freeze as HC and keep Pruitt as DC
It would be the most cost effective option
Miss you already @JacketVolbut give @jackcrevol the low down on why you didn’t like Pruitt
He doesn’t believe the backstory
Something obviously isn’t right, but how can they fix it? The reality is that the Vols will be underdogs in three of their final four games and a quick fix isn’t walking through the door.
But Jeremy Pruitt has to do something because the fan base is growing very weary of him. He’s already fired a coach this season and that’s led to minimal results. I don’t expect him to fire anyone before season’s end. So what’s the move?
Turn the freshmen loose.
Let’s see more Harrison Bailey. Let’s see those young receivers, Dee Beckwith, Key Lawrence, Bryson Eason and so on. I’m not dogging the veterans, but the reality is you’re likely to go 3-7 even if you play the older guys. If that’s basically inevitable, let everyone see the young players. You get to see how they react in game situations and they will offer some hope about things going forward. In reality, it can be the spring practice that you didn’t get to have.
Here’s the other thing college coaches must realize: if the one-time transfer rule comes into play, then you're going to have all kinds of potential things to deal with. Fans see the transfer rule as a positive because you can go out there and get who you want to fix a problem on the roster. Few think about the other side and that’s in regards to the players who might leave you.
Saturday night, Dee Beckwith tweeted out a message that could certainly be interpreted as possible unhappiness with playing time. The message was later deleted.
But in this day and age, players have no issue with packing up and leaving. If the rule is passed in January then leaving will be easier than ever. And players have less patience than ever. Wait for your turn? You have to be kidding? Johnny not only isn’t waiting for his turn in 2020; he’s already transferred to a rival school and is dogging the old place on social media. That’s the new norm.
Tennessee fans themselves are out of patience, but they can’t transfer. They are tired of taking a step forward and two steps back over the last year. They are tired of seeing this team not finish games. No production or excitement on offense. They are over not seeing their defense stop a slant. They are quickly getting weary of their coach.
Jeremy Pruitt has plenty of challenges over the next month. None bigger than holding a roster and recruiting class together. To do that he needs to show growth and hope for the future
Play the kids, Coach. If you do, you will know exactly what you have and what you need heading into 2021. And it can quiet an understandably angry fan base, a fan base that has no interest in 32 more days of whatever the hell it is that they have been seeing.
oof....my bad because SC and Missouri are something to brag about
did butch ever get blown out by Kentucky at home?..apples to oranges my ass..it fits along the same guidelines that got butch fired and he did have more wins.
