Understand this, but if it were to be a situation where JP has just figured out he doesn't want to be a HC and would rather be able to stick with DC, then the whole "money" issue would cease to be a factor.
But I think this supports what AV has been posting as well as not everyone being on board. Not being on board doesn't have to be disagreement, it can be lack of enthusiasm as well.
Let's say JP is leaning to a return to DC work. How much would you all be willing to let Pruitt keep of his salary to slide into the DC role if it meant being able to grab Freeze or a similarly impressive HC now?
Me, I'd have no qualms with giving him $1.5M a year for 6 years or $9M guaranteed if he's waive the other $3M-3.5M that we'd owe him for a straight firing. But he'd have to work on his defensive staff. It's clear that it's a @@#$% show right now.
I want to give an update. When we called an ambulance, my dad refused to go, and they couldn't make or convince him. The next morning, my dad called with a change of heart and was willing to go! The prayers worked! As @Orangeredblooded said, God gave him a light to see all those around him and fight. And he did!
My dad has pneumonia and what they referred to as dangerously low potassium. Low to the point that it could have cause cardiac problems, even a heart attack if he waited any longer. He isn't out of the woods yet and has a spot on his lungs they want to look at once they clear the pneumonia. But he's fighting!
I didn't know what else to do the other day but pour my heart out here though tears. I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your prayers and well-wishes! They helped save my dad's life and give him a chance.
Yeah I'll be pissed if Mond is ultimately out and they called it. That would be a screwjob, if they still had 53 players or whatever. We may have had a real shot vs their backups. Otherwise, it's whatever.
Fwiw 247 said JG was likely going to be cleared anyway, especially with how Maurer played last game. Shrout seems out at this point. Weinke reconfirmed that staff is still incompetent and that he too believes Freeze should hired, so he was never starting. Vs Mond...no chance with our D. But vs King...we had a shot though ughh.
No hard evidence yet. Just a fanbase that has seen this all before, and knows when a coach has drifted into the gravitational orbit of the Hot Seat Black Hole, from which he will never escape. So i've been off volnation since Saturday. Couldn't take the negativity I knew was going to be coming in. Honestly, I was just sad after that last loss. Ha. I braved a look and had to skip a thousand pages in here i've missed. Is there actually some smoke with Pruitt being replaced or is this just people message boarding?
Under that scenario, can you imagine the conversations Pruitt and Butch could have about their experience at UT? Classic. They could compare buyout checksThere is zero chance Jeremy doesn't answer Saban's call to come home as DC if he gets fired. There is zero chance that Saban does not make that call with the D's he has trotted out there the past couple of years. He'll make around $2 million per year doing so. Subtract that from the annual buyout.
UT has an annual tradition of budgeting for football coaching buyouts. That's what they do. They don't nave to do that for basketball anymore. Hart lucked into Barnes and they paid the man. Kelly wanted to come home and she has shown she can keep the program competitive even if the days of dominance may be over. The economics for terminating CJP has already been made on here. It's a no-brainer for normal football powers. However, it is UT we are talking about. We know how UT is.
We fans did not make the last 4 HC hiring decisions. UT/major boosters did. They did so in mind numbing fashion that resembled shizstorms. Even with the Kiffin hire they ignored the warning bells and left Brian Kelly at the alter. Yes - the boosters put their money where their mouths were. They deserved a say in the process. However, without us fans in large numbers there is no Vol football. They need and want our money and fandom to sustain. Personally, I no longer desire to support their continuous major mistakes and embarrassments. Jeremy has been one of those. I find that facing reality helps me deal with major disappointments better. But that's just me. Should Jeremy do a 180 and turn his coaching methods and decisioning around, I will support him. But not if he stays as he is.
Lol no doubt. But that is where the staff is.The same Weinke who hasn’t developed a single QB since being here? And it would have probably been a 9-6 game then.
He is a can't miss. He will win wherever he goes. And our luck it will be at SCI really feel like Freeze is a can't miss.
Even with Gruden, if I'm honest, I always had doubts about the transition to the college game, recruiting, being another Harbaugh, etc...but Freeze checks all the boxes - and he has beat Saban. Twice. He is the giant killer.
The history is the only downfall with Freeze but he has paid his dues and everyone deserves a second chance.
I really really want this to happen, even if it is next year, but I'm really really trying to temper myself.
I’m being semi-comical here, but actually believe it:
Tennessee fans will expect the list to be Hugh Freeze, Luke Fickell and Urban Meyer
The actual list will be Billy Napier, Kevin Steele and Tee Martin
Save your breath man, it’s like talking to a brick wallAlright Pruitt... you have another gift of a bye week to prepare the freshman for his first career start. Don’t be stupid and waste another two week window on JG. You now could have had 4weeks of prep for the kid heading into Auburn. Now you get a gimme. Take advantage and give the kid two weeks to prepare for Auburn because you might even get that week as a bye if auburn covid gets out of control. You have the potential of getting your future QB 4 weeks under his belt before Florida. Make the move now
