Let's say JP is leaning to a return to DC work. How much would you all be willing to let Pruitt keep of his salary to slide into the DC role if it meant being able to grab Freeze or a similarly impressive HC now?

Me, I'd have no qualms with giving him $1.5M a year for 6 years or $9M guaranteed if he's waive the other $3M-3.5M that we'd owe him for a straight firing. But he'd have to work on his defensive staff. It's clear that it's a @@#$% show right now.

that makes too much sense and would be too clean and easy.... UT has 'ish the bed every other time, so I fully expect them to keep up the tradition of F'ing up.

I didn't know what else to do the other day but pour my heart out here though tears. I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your prayers and well-wishes! They helped save my dad's life and give him a chance.

Your dad's potassium levels can explain some of his behavior. Any time sodium and/or potassium levels get too far out of whack it can effect the mind in pretty extreme ways. I'm glad you've gotten him to the hospital. He should start feeling more like his old self soon. Here's to a quick recovery!

Fwiw 247 said JG was likely going to be cleared anyway, especially with how Maurer played last game. Shrout seems out at this point. Weinke reconfirmed that staff is still incompetent and that he too believes Freeze should hired, so he was never starting. Vs Mond...no chance with our D. But vs King...we had a shot though ughh.

Look, I think what is being lost in the shuffle here is the fact that there is legitimate smoke that JP doesn't want to be here and just the fact that he's mentioned Saban, Bama, and DC means he's not 100% here mentally and not 100% vested in this program, team, and University. The pain we've all gone through the past 10-12yrs, he shouldn't get to hang around and half-ass his job getting paid that amount of money.

In a perfect world, Phil or someone else needs to have a meeting with him, find out his true intentions and feelings, and go from there-- if he's not ALL IN, then find a way to have him resign or be demoted in the best possible way. That's the reason I am being so hyper-negative, We all deserve a coach who WANTS to be here and WANTS to win and try and raise this program back up... not someone sleep-walking through the season... that's not fair to the players busting their asses out there every day.

No hard evidence yet. Just a fanbase that has seen this all before, and knows when a coach has drifted into the gravitational orbit of the Hot Seat Black Hole, from which he will never escape.

I really feel like Freeze is a can't miss.

Even with Gruden, if I'm honest, I always had doubts about the transition to the college game, recruiting, being another Harbaugh, etc...but Freeze checks all the boxes - and he has beat Saban. Twice. He is the giant killer.

The history is the only downfall with Freeze but he has paid his dues and everyone deserves a second chance.

I really really want this to happen, even if it is next year, but I'm really really trying to temper myself.

UT has an annual tradition of budgeting for football coaching buyouts. That's what they do. They don't nave to do that for basketball anymore. Hart lucked into Barnes and they paid the man. Kelly wanted to come home and she has shown she can keep the program competitive even if the days of dominance may be over. The economics for terminating CJP has already been made on here. It's a no-brainer for normal football powers. However, it is UT we are talking about. We know how UT is.

We fans did not make the last 4 HC hiring decisions. UT/major boosters did. They did so in mind numbing fashion that resembled shizstorms. Even with the Kiffin hire they ignored the warning bells and left Brian Kelly at the alter. Yes - the boosters put their money where their mouths were. They deserved a say in the process. However, without us fans in large numbers there is no Vol football. They need and want our money and fandom to sustain. Personally, I no longer desire to support their continuous major mistakes and embarrassments. Jeremy has been one of those. I find that facing reality helps me deal with major disappointments better. But that's just me. Should Jeremy do a 180 and turn his coaching methods and decisioning around, I will support him. But not if he stays as he is.

Under that scenario, can you imagine the conversations Pruitt and Butch could have about their experience at UT? Classic. They could compare buyout checks :):):)

Lol no doubt. But that is where the staff is.

That said, if JG wasn't cleared, I don't know how they couldn't play him. Maurer is wrecked. Shrout is MIA. Would be cool to see HB play a longer stretch of ball.

Freeze would be a Johnny Majors type hire. A proven head coach that knows how to win. We've not had one of those since Majors. It's time to get serious about winning football games again.

We need to see if Freeze would accept the position and then pull the trigger, ASAP. The KY game this year was Pruitt's "screw em" moment. He's done and wants to cash that TN lottery ticket.

So you're telling me that Miss State can get Leach (setting aside his current performance he was exactly who they wanted and a name brand), Ole Miss can get Kiffin (the best paralel to Freeze right now), Florida can get Mullen but we can't get Freeze who is currently coaching at Jerry Falwell U? BULL. If we don't get him it's because our donors and influencers sat on their hands and let South Carolina or some other school grab him. Simple as that. We have the money, fanbase, facilities, support, and this is a place where a top target actually wants to be. They will then hire coach McGoogle and feed us lies about how it's actually a unique set of problems, pointy headed academics, an internal rebellion led by Smurfette against Papa Smurf, or some other such nonsense.

Pruitt’s buyout is $13 mil. Wonder if everything’s unsalvageable that he would take an $8 mil lump sum? He’d command $2 mil a year as a DC and it would be preferable to load up his account then pay him to make below market value at another stop. Remember he’s under no obligation to mitigate his salary if he’s fired.

Weinke doesn't have any business coaching above middle school at this point. The guy is absolutely pathetic and surely he knows it and is embarrassed at what a 'ish job he's done.
