I believe the only changes we will see next year in the staff is:

DL
OL
QB
OLB

Chaney, Ansley, Felton, Os, Tee, Graham, and Nieds will stay
Chaney needs to change something then, ill admit I wanted him when we were looking for an OC but in his return to Knoxville he has been terrible. And if we run outside zone from the pistol one more time my head might explode.

Freeze really would be perfect. Proven record of success in the SEC and knows how the recruiting game is played. I don't think he will repeat the sins and mistakes of the past. He understands offense and isn't afraid to go toe to toe with the GA's and Bama's.

And of course we will screw this up.

I wonder if any ADs will really be able to let a coach go unless they can find probable cause. They are all losing money this year. Going to be hard to get moves approved that include large buyouts.

Is there a morality clause? I suppose if Vol Nation really needs me I could take one for the team and attempt to seduce Pruitt.

Utah State already fired their guy. Terminations will happen. COVID-affected finances will just be used as an excuse for gun shy ADs.

I lost one of my best friends and golf partner last night. He suffered a heart attack a few days ago and didn't make through. I guess it's a sign of getting old but I've lost five of my friends in the past two years to cancer, pneumonia and heart attack. We all played golf together and had some great times. I guess I'm gonna have to start hanging around a younger crowd.
So sorry to hear!

Man that's tough. Getting old sucks for a myriad of reasons.

Yep, peoplee are kidding themselves if they believe any established coach is coming here. This job isn't top 30, we think way too much of this program for obvious reasons. I urge everyone to take a step back and look at this objectively. We are a third tier program, all we are getting is has beens or hasn't been yet's, that's the plain truth.
A truth many here do not want to accept. But this is without question how we are seen by established coaches. We can get lucky with an elite QB eventually. But those are hard to come by. However, it is the only thing that gives me hope.

Having slept on the game for a couple nights:

1. Defense played three good quarters and one terrible one.

2. Dline looked much improved under Pruitt, but could still be better.

3. Maurer. Yeesh.

4. I do not understand our inability to play a complete game under Pruitt. I also don’t get why we’re getting destroyed in the second half when previously adjustments at halftime were Pruitt’s strength.

It does look like Pruitt is trying to do too much and probably not putting enough trust in his assistants. I’m not out on Pruitt, but I am getting worn down.

It looks like the team is still playing hard. They just aren’t very good right now, which is especially hard to take off a bye week. I guess I’m in the play the young guys and hope Pruitt figures it out next year camp. Just don’t see firing him this year.

I’m just gonna be the one to say it.... neidermeyer should be upgraded especially before being moved to the most important unit of our defense.
Neids need a role like Cochran at UGA. Make him special teams coach or some created role. He bombed at TE and now the room is pathetic, and now he has his grips on the ILB position.

Which is what I expect to hear at the end of the season. Pruitt does not act at all like he's coaching for his job. He literally looks like he could care less to me this year.

This “Pruitt doesn’t care” narrative it absolutely asinine. The man cares. He just isn’t doing what you want him to do, thus “he doesn’t care”. I’ve got one foot off the Pruitt bandwagon, but there is enough to complain about without nonsense like this.

I don't buy it either, but it's not an outrageous assumption. Not everyone is cut out to be a head coach and it's reasonable to think that someone might stop giving 100% when they realize they're in over their head and have a golden parachute. Happens all the time in all industries and professions.

He wouldn't even have to be as obviously dirty in recruiting here to land elite classes. Even if he is, Tennessee can fend it off better than a Ole Miss anyways

If that is what a team that is playing hard looks like to you, yikes. The team is just going through the motions dude. Maybe a handful of players are still playing hard, but the team is not even playing for eachother anymore. Once that happens, put a fork in it.

Where's the fire? Where's the passion? Where's the gambler who did whatever was needed to give his team a chance? He's in over his head he knows it and he's just riding out the storm

He’s on the Butch Jones pension plan. Coach just well enough to get an undeserved extension then crap the bed and wait for that buyout money.
