Well, it had better be the whole offensive staff minus Tee, Ansley, and Felton. Move Neids back to TEs, and get a whole new defensive staff. We will see if Pruitt really wants to succeed, and if he can succeed, based on his hirings. If he can’t get anything but bottom of the barrel coaches, because no good assistant coaches are willing to come for only a year if he fails, them the writing will be on the wall with a big black sharpie, and it would make more sense to get rid of Pruitt too. I hope he plans on taking back over full control of the defense because it was a lot better when he was making the calls.Pruitt isn’t going anywhere. Zero chance he gets fired this year...
I do expect some other staff changes however....
Unlike Butch, Pruitt would take a real job. He is too good of a DC. The buyout wouldn’t be nearly as bad as it looks on paper because a DC of his caliber is going to still get paid quite a bit. We’d only have to pay the difference.Maybe he goes to Fulmer and negotiates a lower buyout to have a mutual parting of ways? We can dream, right?
I thought this same thing as well. He's probably never lost this much in his coaching or playing career. That said, by all accounts he is very stubborn, so he may have trouble quitting. I think we will be able to gauge his interest in keeping this job by how this team plays going down the stretch. Regardless of the scoreboard, does the team play hard? Do younger players get better? Or does the team continue to come out flat after halftime. Yes has this team been handcuffed by the QB, but it was last year too. This still doesn't explain why we can't manage to cover a slant route.Maybe he goes to Fulmer and negotiates a lower buyout to have a mutual parting of ways? We can dream, right?
What in the world has our administration been doing with the $50-60 million in profit they have been pocketing since the SEC network came about and started handing huge amounts of money over to the schools? My word!! You think it’s a deficit now? Wait until revenue drops due to lost ticket sales, concessions, and merchandise sales.Response in the FF from an insider:View attachment 321796
Only way Pruitt is fired is possibly fired is if the team effort continues to decline and we finish 3-7 or worse, I think there will be enough heat to fire Pruitt. FSU went ahead and pulled the trigger on Willie Taggart after two years. If the effort is there for the player and we still finish 3-7, then you can make a case that Pruitt did the best he could with a limited QB, COVID, etc. He'll get 2021 and better win 7 games. What in the world has our administration been doing with the $50-60 million in profit they have been pocketing since the SEC network came about and started handing huge amounts of money over to the schools? $13.4M - Noted politician hints at launching fundraising effort to buy out Will Muschamp’s contractHey @scvolfan7, what is Champ’s buyout? Isn’t it $20 million? If so, how in the world can SCe afford to pay his buyout and the staff, but we can’t? I’m sure their budget deficit is as large or larger than ours. It’s just another excuse that Tennessee makes as to why we can’t do things. @InVOLuntary has been right over and over...they will continue to force crap coaches down our throats until the bottom line says it doesn’t make sense. At that point, they will hire another 3-5 year up and comer. Only way it changes is for the fans to never offer support for that hire, demand a proven coach, and stop buying tickets and merchandise so that they see we are serious about winning now.
We're not going to get what we want. UT is not going to fire Pruitt and hire a proven coach. Replacing staff and retaining Pruitt is what they will do. Nothing we say or do on this board is going to change that. Those that want Pruitt to blow out the staff and give it one more year are delusional. We’ve seen this with both Dooley and Butch. No good coaches/coordinators are coming here in a potential lame duck year. And you also throw in the fact that it’s probably out there in coaching circles that Pruitt‘s difficult to work for and your pool of candidates only gets smaller and worse in caliber.
We’ve all seen this before. Going that route is only delaying the inevitable and putting us deeper in the hole.
Let Ansley leave. Only coach who should be safe is Tee and Graham. Everyone else can go. Love Neids for recruiting but he should not be an on field coach. Unless he moves back to TE. But we have had a massive coaching carousel since Pruitt got here and the coaching is getting worse. One common denominator. We need to move on before we become even more obsolete. SC will Fire Muschamp and go for Freeze. Freeze would much prefer us or Auburn. Question is do we do the smart thing or continue to oblivion?Well, it had better be the whole offensive staff minus Tee, Ansley, and Felton. Even if we did, the university has shown us multiple times how this would be handled. For whatever reason, people think they're just going to suddenly change how they do things. They're not. UT does not put an emphasis on football. At some point, the administration just stopped giving a damn. We'll replace a few assistants and Pruitt will continue to be our coach. That's the UT way. We can bitch all we want, but it's not going to change anything.we have no money.
Osovet should be safe, too, IMO. He's recruited well, and we have no idea if he can actually coach a position as he was stuck with TEs this year and we basically have no TEsLet Ansley leave. Pruitt's staff for 2021:
OC/TE: Chip Long
OL: Jim Chaney
RB: Jay Graham
WR: Tee Martin
QB: Joe Osovet
DC: Lance Thompson
DB: Derrick Ansley
DT: Bo Davis
ILB/Recruiting Coordinator: Tosh Lupoi
OLB: Brian Neidermeyer
Just a thought if we aren't gonna go for the gold and hire Freeze.
I say move him back to TEs and give him some kind of title so it doesn't read as a demotion. Hopefully Osovet can actually coach another offensive position.I’m just gonna be the one to say it.... neidermeyer should be upgraded especially before being moved to the most important unit of our defense.
