Fulmer just gave him an extension and the athletic department is hemorrhaging money. They can’t afford to fire him. He’ll get at least 1 more year. Given our current trajectory, next years Ole Miss game might be the death knell if Kiffin were to come to Knoxville and win. The BVS in me totally sees that happening.
That is true

We have one of the best recruiting classes coming in under Pruitt. One of the best that I’ve seen since the 90’s. Give Pruitt time to mix his classes together.
At first glance it looks like a class that will probably finish about #15 nationally and #6 in the SEC. Good but not great and certainly not worth keeping him for.

I am shocked we are here already with all the talk going on... but if we end up finishing say 3-7 or get beat by Vandy and blown out by others with no big win, etc. do you think it is actually possible Pruitt is on the hot seat to be removed as head coach at the end of THIS season???

I'm not sure I can handle another coaching search already.... but what do you think?
No. No way Fulmer gives him an extension and then fires him. It would be the biggest "i ****ed this up" pie ever eaten.

0/15 against Florida, Georgia, and Alabama will get him canned. No amount of buyout will save him going 5 years without showing progress by beating our three biggest "rivals".

Depending on the outcome of the season, that extension may get Fulmer fired in December.
I said in the next 2 years which would make it 5 years total....And who's going to fire Fulmer for the 2nd time? He'll retire before he's fired from UT again.

I wouldn't be so sure. If the guy he gave an extension to right before the season in the middle of a pandemic ends up going 2-8 or 3-7, that's going to reflect very poorly on Fulmer.

Just as a hypothetical, with the very likely possibility that South Carolina fires Muschamp would Fulmer pull a preemptive strick and fire Pruitt and go out and high one of the few coaches that has beaten Saban multiple times? If South Carolina fires Muschamp, I do think they will go hire Freeze.

He'll still 'retire' before he's fired again. He might be told to retire but he won't be fired IMO.

Absolutely No Way. UT is broke. When the Year End financials are reported I am certain we will all be shocked at the deficit. We have Pruitt fir another 3 years barring any type of misconduct or ethical charge against him.

It's also going to make UT football a national laughing stock yet again. The administration may not care about football performance, but they Don like looking the fool.

Currently 10th on 247 with the most commitments of any program in the country. Will likely finish 7th in the conference. I don't know why people keep saying recruiting is so good.

Absolutely. The Pat Forde's and Dan Wolken's of the sports media will be ripping us once again for how incompetent the UT administration continues to prove itself to be.

If we were 2-7 going into the Florida game, Fulmer may be forced to fire him and coach the team for free in 2021 and 2022.

It can't reflect worse on Fulmer than it already has.
What kind of idiot extends and raises a coach that lost to Ga St and BYU????

The extension definitely didn't make much sense even at the time, but it's going to go from a questionable move to a firable offense if the losses continue to pile up.

If we go 3-7 and stick with Pruitt and Auburn winds up paying Malzahn's $40 million buyout and hiring Freeze, Pruitt's seat will be 3-mile island meltdown hot by next August.

If Gus does not beat Alabama this year, he gone.
Virus, buyout or whatever.
I have always admired Auburn's ability to put a coach on the road.
Being Alabama's retarded little brother gives them quite the inferiority complex.
The eyes of their big boosters roll back in their head and they throw money until the problem goes away.
We need boosters like that.
