This has always been a 5 year rebuild

Literally heard the same crap verbatim in the botch years. No currently elite program took 5 years with the right coach to get there, period. They did it in 2-4 TOPS

Dabo when 19-15 in his first 34 games (2 full seasons / 1 interim season) before getting to 10 wins in year 4 and Clemson is arguably the top elite program outside of Bama.

Not saying Pruitt is the next Dabo but you can't say it takes 2-4 years TOPs and then go psycho on Pruitt when he is 15-15 in his first 30 games (2.5 seasons) as head coach.

The whole team played with better effort.

Pruitt’s recruits are the best players on the field.

A negaVol like me shouldn’t have to talk you off the ledge. Give Pruitt more time.[/QUOTE
This is the best post of 2020! Someone finally gets.

No. Look at years two and three of Saban, Meyer, Smart, etal at their respective jobs. I’m not saying Pruitt is anywhere near the coach those guys are - he’s obviously shown he’s not. But good coaches turn cultures, effort, wins vs losses around quickly. We are trending in the wrong direction. Pruitt has no business heading an SEC program.

5 year rebuild? UT will be embarressed again in two weeks at Arkansas....a team that snapped a 20 game SEC losing streak and fights harder on the field that Pruitts third year team...

Issue is Clemson showed improvement mostly and barely lost to big teams in his 3rd year. TN is showing regression.

First.....I think this must be a 15 year rebuild.

second.......you don’t need the full 5 years to “not get blown out” over and over and over.

it doesn’t take 5 years not to lose at home to Kentucky By 27.

It doesn’t take 5 years to instill discipline.

So much sunshine pumping......year after year......after year.....and most these fans just eat it up.

All so true, but the vowels are now in the Ohio valley conference and still struggling:)

Scoreboard aside, we clearly were further behind Bama than we were last year.

I don't know. Maybe this is one of those rare nonlinear rebuilds.

Barely lost to Auburn on the road in 2010 when they won their NC. Pruitt has yet to keep a big game remotely close.

That’s a problem and needs to be fixed. Since division this year is out of the picture, Pruitt has to play and coach for the future. The fact is that JG isn’t the future. I’d take 5-5/4-6 finish if it meant Bailey starting the rest of the way out. Pruitt can’t roll into Year 4 with a QB with no clear playing experience.

For the record, I don’t mind Maurer starting over Bailey but I don’t think Maurer is long term solution and I don’t want Bailey to transfer out.

Part of the problem with any rebuild (or recovery) is that you may have some talent but you don’t necessarily have the talent to implement your program. We still don’t have the right talent at DL to run a 3-4 and overall our LB play is weak for that scheme.

Which was his actual 2nd season as HC; his first actual season he won his divison. His actual 3rd year as HC they won the ACC.

His interim season as head coach was 7 games. He was 34 games in after his second full season as head coach. He was basically in year 2.5-3 seasons as head coach when he went 6-7 and the entire Clemson fan base was melting down.

Just saying if the barometer is “2-4 years max”, why the fuss over Pruitt who is 2.5 seasons into the job. I personally have a longer leash with Pruitt than some others. I don’t think anyone is right or wrong. Just won’t see me making huge judgement on him until after game 10

By all means, let's fire Pruitt, the first real football coach we have had since Fulmer. We can give all future coaching hires a 2-year contract with the expectation they win the national championship within those two years or they are gone. Good luck with that.

Rebuilding means throwing out what doesn't work i.e. JG. Going into year three and possibly year four with a Lyle recruit leading your recruits isn't rebuilding its insanity. Time to cut sling load because he won't have a salvageable QB going into year 5 because they will all have transferred. Develope them now with real game time experience so that year 5 is your SEC run. This isn't rocket science.
