You’re exaggerating the situation in the opposite direction imo. Go back and read the thread and quotes from Howell. Maybe he inevitably winds up at UNC, but our staff cooled on him at a time when reports and Howell himself were making it sound like we were the leader in his recruitment. It doesn’t matter now, but he liked UT a lot. There’s no way of knowing if he still would’ve flipped to UNC had he first committed to us. Regardless, with hindsight, it goes down as the first strike against this coaching staff’s ability to evaluate QB talent.
