Brumbaugh has ties to the Kentucky program. It's not the least bit unbelievable that he texted one of his friends to tell them "you wont believe the sh!t that just happened to me" and then it gets leaked to the Kentucky media.

Meanwhile let me spare no f'ing mercy when it comes to my feelings about the Knoxville media. what a clueless bunch of @sshats. UT keeps information sealed from it's own media on a daily basis.

Anyway, the argument that this Kentucky media guy could beat a UT media guy on this scoop is 1000% believable to me because there's no way Pruitt would want that info just handed to Knoxville media. But Brumbaugh absolutely could have leaked that info to contacts around the Kentucky program.

I just don't buy this. I think there was an existing issue, maybe something happened during the game and as a result Pruitt let the DL coach know Saturday night or Sunday before practice. If it happened at the game I'm pretty sure athletes would have seen it and it would have made rounds.

I’m sure he’ll be here at least 2 years as a result of his recent contract extension. Regardless, I don’t have to watch JG crap the bed every Saturday and I can spend my money on hunting, guns, ammo, etc.......instead of wasting it on UT stuff. I love the Vols but my patience has run its course over the past 13 years.

Stats bro, all of them! Passing defense, rush defense, total defense, total scoring defense. All of them! They are the worst defense in the SEC and one of the worst in the country. Abou8t #62 0ut of 77 teams. I swear sometimes I feel like I am the only one that actually watches college football on here. News flash Alabamas defense was not very good last year either but they are way worse this year. Also, since you have not been watching college football this year, Florida has a terrible defense as well.

I understand. I've said myself, if he trots JG out there to open against bama, I will find something else to watch or do... If we're going to lose, I'd rather see how Maurer or Bailey do it. I'm well aware of how JG does it.

Gotta love the "prove something that has no substantial evidence behind it is false" approach. Much easier than actually having to have some proof behind something.

I work in a large corporation. When people say "I didn't know until X" they are talking about when they were officially communicated to about the firing. But EVERYBODY knows way before they "know" officially.

Also, my original statement still holds true. Brumbaugh is fired by Pruitt in private and leaks the info before the rest of the staff is officially informed. 100% totally plausable.

Pruitt already stated in interviews that he had "philosophical differences" with Brum on coaching DL. In corporate speak what this means is Pruitt told him to do something a certain way and Brum flat out refused. Basic insubordination. If Brum's way of doing things was seen by Pruitt as directly leading to the debacle against Kentucky and Pruitt saw things happening on the field that he told Brum not to let happen then its totally explainable that the firing happened, at least informally, on the field. A more "formal" parting of ways may have happened Saturday night or Sunday. But I bet Brum knew way before then.

As far as the info "making the rounds", it absolutely could have made the rounds. Like I said when people are fired in the corporate world plenty of people know ahead of time but the coach controls the information leaks "we keep our business in house or you're not gonna play for me or be on my staff".

650,000 a year. No interview. No search. Fired after four games.

Yet another amazingly bad hiring process by Pruitt.

Nothing too specific, but I don't believe this train derailed all at once Saturday afternoon over just how the DL was being coached. I do think there was something said at some point during the game that may have been the final straw. I don't know if that resulted in this happening during the game or after.

Pruitt has a rep for being tough to deal with and stirring up ish since at least Georgia so it shouldn't be a surprise to see something like this happen.

Barring Brumbaugh assaulting a player or doing something else very bad, this shouldn't happen in season IMO though.

This program just keeps finding new and creative ways to pay people to not work for them.

All good I was not attacking you either. It just boggles my mind that so many people worry more about the name on the jersey rather than the product on the field. My frustration stems from all the folks who say we should no start HB against Alabama's defense. Then turn around and suggest we wait to start him against lowly Arkansas. When the reality is Arkansas has one of the best defenses in the country. The reality is if Tennessee can get a QB ready by Saturday other than JG we have a chance at an upset. This is a trap game for Alabama coming off a big win against Georgia. Ole Miss almost pulled it off with a shootout but fell short then turned around and got shut down by Arkansas. Ole Miss does have the worst defense in the country and had a chance to beat Alabama.

This would fall in line with the "verbal altercation in front of the team" reasoning that was first rumored. If Brum refused instruction and undermined Pruitt in front of the players, Pruitt had no choice. We'll probably never know all the details.

Brum: "F$&# you! Hang in there Johnson."
Pruitt: "I said get him off the field! And if you don't start getting better effort out of your players you'll be sitting at home next week."
Brum: "F$%# YOU MOTHER F&*%#@%! And if you think you can get better effort out of these p*$$!#$ do it yourself!"
Pruitt: "You're fired."

Would that be acceptable?

Personally, I think Pruitt is trying to be too much like Saban.
