SIAP Pruitt fired Brum during the game?

What if this happened in front of the players?

Pruitt: "Get Johnson off the field and give me someone who's going to give 100%."
Brum: "F$&# you! Hang in there Johnson."
Pruitt: "I said get him off the field! And if you don't start getting better effort out of your players you'll be sitting at home next week."
Brum: "F$%# YOU MOTHER F&*%#@%! And if you think you can get better effort out of these p*$$!#$ do it yourself!"
Pruitt: "You're fired."

Would that be acceptable?
Johnson is NOT a D-lineman and is one of the best players on the team. Do better...

No problem with him doing that... but an odd person to pick on for all that has gone wrong.

Personally, I think Pruitt is trying to be too much like Saban.
To be clear I made all that up. Just a hypothetical to further illustrate that there's no telling what happened on the sideline Saturday. He may have been drunk on the sidelines or he may have tried to put his finger in Pruitt's butt. Who knows? My point is that it's really dumb to say Pruitt shouldn't have fired him without knowing the facts.

Saban is known to be very tough and micromanager. Runs everything like an army where reporting lines are very clear including who is in charge. Is it wrong if Pruitt wants the same approach with his staff (he has certainly seen/felt first hand how effective this approach can be)?

Pruitt has a rep for being tough to deal with and stirring up ish since at least Georgia so it shouldn't be a surprise to see something like this happen.

Barring Brumbaugh assaulting a player or doing something else very bad, this shouldn't happen in season IMO though.

This program just keeps finding new and creative ways to pay people to not work for them.

Hey, I got no problem with a HC being hard to deal with. You know who else is hard to deal with? Nick Saban! The difference is Nick knows exactly what is right and how to win. If you're going to be a hard @ss you HAVE to win.

IDK, but I'd say he sent a strong signal to his entire coaching staff. He's also signaling to the players. If we lose to Bama/UF but otherwise win out - then his strategy paid off.

He seriously has to get a better QB coach however and if the OL coach can't get it done with 4/5*s and future NFL players - then.....

You do realize Fuente hit his stride at Memphis in year 3, right? That's normally a tell all year for coaches and the direction of their program.

Their schedule had a lot to do with that. He's a good coach, no doubt, but they aren't competing for the same caliber of player either. Top 20.... meh; They may have beaten us too.... Without the schedule and abuse hard to compare apples to apples. At their best they would be bottom third SEC. Were fun to watch though.

None of us have a clue about any specific event that may have contributed to the firing. At this time anyway.

Exactly this. No one knows what happened so we can "what if" all we want. Likely a build up of things in the meeting rooms, practice and on field performance. Clearly CJP thought the D line should be performing at a much higher level and wasn't going to improve as is. Anything else who knows.....

This would fall in line with the "verbal altercation in front of the team" reasoning that was first rumored. If Brum refused instruction and undermined Pruitt in front of the players, Pruitt had no choice. We'll probably never know all the details.
But that would also be a “for cause” firing and no buyout, correct?

I've got no problem with the Saban's or Belichick's either. I probably respect them both more than a lot of fans..

Key word you said is win.

I don't think firing a guy after 4 games and absorbing an 800 K buyout is the way to instill confidence though.

is there a chance he mouthed off to pruitt at half, pruitt lost his temper and fired him on the spot? helps explain why the defense stopped playing at half when we'd just punched it in and were down only 17-7. i dont understand why the change couldn't wait 6 more games.

Mark Stoops comments on Tennessee firing assistant following loss to Kentucky
“Really disappointed to hear of that,” Stoops said at his Monday press conference. “Caught word of that yesterday and I wasn’t sure whether that was true or not, I didn’t reach out to the friends that I have on that program. I certainly will reach out to Jimmy, though. Jimmy I do consider a friend and know him obviously personally from being with me and his family and wish nothing but the best for him, he’s a quality coach, he’s a good coach and he’ll land on his feet with no problem. I have no idea what goes on there, that’s not my business, but at some point I will reach out to Jimmy, and that’s disappointing.”
And how does this support him being fired during the game?

Maybe. IDK. Unnamed sources cause my amygdala effect to kick in. After being slapped over and over with fake news predicated on unnamed sources I recoil at the mention of "unnamed sources". Actually you are more accurate to not attribute those "facts" to anyone. They are usually as reliable as a candle in a wind storm.

You have no idea what you're talking about, and I don't mean that in a disrespectful way, you just literally have no idea what happened so to say it's "disgraceful" or "unprofessional" without knowing anything about "it" is really foolish and ignorant.
You have no idea how to read. I don't mean that in a disrespectful way, just like you said. It's just that you seemingly missed the words "if true" in my response.

Foolish and ignorant, indeed....
