Any word from practice on QB reps

Agree. But Pruitt has already said he is. And apparently from what Hubbs and AP said, the majority of the staff agree JG gives them the best chance to win. So regardless of what we dumb fans think, JG is starting.
You think we are dumb? This kid is a head case that gives us zero chance of winning. Line up Holliday and mess with their heads for a bit. Then play Maurer for two series to see how he does. Bring in JG as backup to see where his head is if needed. Coaches are boring this year!

Why? Would it really make a difference if a different QB plays and we get blown out by 40 instead of 50?
Maurer is the only one who has shown that he has the balls to handle a beat down. Therefore I think he should start. JG should come off the bench if needed and in the 4th quarter when the game slows down Bailey should get some reps.

Then the next 2 weeks should be spent preparing a Maurer + Bailey gameplan. We finish the season with a 2 QB system

The reality is that other QB's will not develop as long as JG continues to get 1st team reps! Time to cut sling load and push JG to getting 3rd and 4th string reps. He has shown that he can't develop given more opportunity, 3 years more. Time to give others a shot.

Also, I think part of our problem on offense is that Pruitt is so anal about protecting the ball. I believe in ball security but I do not believe in trying to prevent turnovers, if that makes sense. To beat a great defense your QB has to be able to throw into tight windows. I think our QBs are coached to $h!& their pants when they are tight windows. Maurer has that confidence to turn it loose. I like that.

Compared to our coaching staff when it comes to big boy football? Yes us fans are dumb. We always think we have the answers. If we all were that good we would have a job that pays millions of dollars a year to simply coach a game.

If you were making millions of dollars and your boss had an opinion would you agree or take the chance of becoming the next assistant out the door?
I've disagreed with the boss many times at different jobs.. There is a way to do it respectfully.

That said, I do seem to find myself unemployed at the moment.... 😬

Not JG fault, he is all in and gives 100% for the Vols, the problem is Pruitt has not been able to recruit & developed an SEC caliber QB, and JG is simply not capable no matter how hard he tries. It makes no sense to recruit these young QB and not develop them, which should include getting them so game time so they can step in when needed.

Why are these QB on scholarship when he apparently has bet the farm on JG, which is a huge mistake. If these guys are not able to beat out JG for the job, then they are not SEC qb either. JG is at best an average to below average qb and Pruitt should have recognized this much sooner and pulled out all the stops to get an experienced guy to come in.

I believe that we do have our guy with Harrison Bailey, the guy is a 5 star qb, ranked #3 qb in the national class, and he should be taking tons of snaps in practice with the first team, or at least splitting the work with JG so a smooth transition can be made, but Pruitt is like all JG and now he is stuck with no one ready to replace JG, and that is totally on Pruitt.

While im not gonna bet the farm on a high school senior like some have HB...the other 5star we have a commitment from...IMO looks to be a superstar in the making...better than HB, again IMO

Pruitt just fired a man for bumping heads. He’d do the same with any of them. With a coach as head strong as he is, you don’t disagree. You just do what you’re told and make it through the day. So when the media of all people ask you questions....... you give HIS answer.

Pruitt fired someone for bumping heads? WTF? Did I miss something?

#1 Never air your laudry to the media. f*** the media, they are nobody's friend.
#2 If your willing to just take it up the arse as an 'employee' and never ever say a word 'in house', then that's on you and a bit cowardly IMO.. Personally I would not want employees like that.

I'm only going to reply because I have this gut feeling that CJP is going to read this thread and what I'm about to type will get his attention and turn this season around.... so here goes - ball security is out the window now. We've all watched it. Our lying eyes have convinced us that no matter how great he is in practice, JG is a poor game day QB. Coach, the guys are down low. Grab one of these unknown-to-you 5-star recruits and give them a chance. I bet it will pay off, somewhere down the line. Just not Saturday.

#2 There are limits. You have to know when to back off. Especially if your livelihood supports your family.

Yeah. He fired the Dline coach. Swain was pretty positive sounding that it was because they disagreed.

Yes these coaches can’t arrange to get the ball to speed in open space. They have failed to recruit and develop quarterbacks. The line is not mean. Henry is the only Hungary player we have. Remember back in the day when Phil was coaching we could call every play coming? UT fans have a lot of experience!!

Durr, I read that literally.. hahaha

They may have 'butted heads' but I'm guessing this had been brewing for a while. Most likely scenario is Pruitt wanted things done a certain way, his way if you like, and Brumbaugh wanted to do things a different way. Pruitt had enough, therefore Brumbaugh walks..

A turnover scared, check down approach is like the offensive version of a prevent defense. The only thing it prevents you from is winning.
