Yes but that's not an outside thing, you and I have no control over what happens in that locker room and coaches offices. If there's cancer that's where it will manifest. The fans just reflect the program good or bad. That's all you can do I guess...hope.
I am telling you though..if we turn cancerous and poisonous it will destroy all progress that has been made..mark my words.
I believe the noise a huge fanbase like ours makes when it goes negative is absolutely corrosive.Yes but that's not an outside thing, you and I have no control over what happens in that locker room and coaches offices. If there's cancer that's where it will manifest. The fans just reflect the program good or bad.
With that being said we must prepare ourselves, we aren't going to compete for the SEC any time soon. But we should beat anyone outside of the big three on our schedule. Anything less than that is a failure and what Pruitt was hired to accomplish. A the or four win season will affect recruiting and make his job that much more difficult. This is not a conversation we should be having in year three. He must get it corrected.
Guys, it was obvious the moment of the second pick. The players voted with their body language. After the first drive of the second half, the entire team voted even if they didn't mean to. The energy was gone. It doesn't matter who Pruitt wants to be the QB. If none of the rest of the team believe in that person, then the team is doomed to failure. Since so much of recruiting now is peer recruiting, a coach trying to shove a player down the rest of the teams' collective throat is going to damage both performance and recruiting.
I'm not advocating mob rule, but this is not an instance of attempted mob rule. This is a classic example of the emperor being nekid. The team's telling him to put some pants on and he better listen or it will get worse for everyone.
THIS^Surely you guys (and gals) are just emotionally venting? Surely you didn’t expect Pruitt to come out and say he was benching JG and announce who he was starting?
I’m not sure what you all expected, but today he said pretty much exactly what I thought he would say.
Despite the protests to the contrary, Pruitt benched JG last year. He gave Maurer and Shrout opportunities. JG played solid football off the bench for the most part.
Pruitt is not loyal to JG. Pruitt is loyal to trying to win. He proved that last year when he handled the QB situation rather well down the stretch.
I may be in the minority, but I believe these Sunday scrimmages have been an effort to get Bailey and other young guys up to speed because he KNOWS he is handcuffed by some of the older guys.
Even if he starts JG Saturday, that doesn’t mean JG is his final answer. It’s just where we are at that moment.
So go ahead and get it out of your system for now, and buckle in for the ride. Don’t get so obsessed with JG that you lose the ability to see the whole picture.
Having said all of that, I am now convinced Pruitt has to move on from JG, BUT I am also convinced that will be a process...not a band aid you rip off.
