JG is the starter against Bama (merged)

I really don't care if JG starts / plays against Bama. Say what you will, but anyone with a room-temperature football IQ knows that UT has slightly below a snowballs chance in hell of beating Bama, so I see no good reason to make the switch there. If anything, the Bama game will make it exceeding clear (as if it's not already) that JG is not an SEC-caliber QB, and has (in my opinion) lost the trust of the UT offense. If...when he struggles against Bama, if they want to give another QB the opportunity, then so be it. But it's best to accept the fact that this is going to be a 2-3 team after the Bama game; use the next 3 weeks of practice to find the new #1 and #2 QB; and then roll with that plan moving forward. At this point, we're playing for a bowl game...any bowl game...and finding our QB for the 2021 season. It is what it is.

But if JG touches anything other than a clipboard after the Bama game, unless it's mop-up duty with a 30-point lead and 4 minutes to play...you'll have to send me a text message to tell me about it, because I will not be there, or anywhere, to watch it. I have an uncomfortable suspicion that there is a lot going on behind the scenes in UT Football right now, and if Coach Pruitt isn't careful, he might end up losing more than just another football game or two. I think he is at or near a crossroads where he is at risk of losing the support of the coaching staff, the players, and the UT fan base. We all know how those things tend to end, so the next few days (and weeks) are going to be critical for UT Football...and his career. Forewarned is forearmed.

I still think he gets this season and next almost regardless...but I've been wrong before. If Jeremy Pruitt wants to be the head football coach at UT, now would be a good time for him to start making wise decisions.

Go Vols.
Best take on the whole situation I’ve read.

JG is an interception machine and not trusted to throw over the middle. I just don’t get it. What do they expect to accomplish with him? Even if the new guys screw up and lose, it isn’t like it would be any different with JG.
Forget the middle. He aint trusted to throw period. Its exausting watching the game and u have to hold your breath everytime he puts it in the air. If it aint a 50/50 ball with the WR making a super catch its almost certainly a pick. We cant even complete a 5 yard out route. I've coached 12yr olds that know if u throw the out route the ball needs to be gone before the WR comes out of his break or there is a great chance its a pick 6 smfh.

I am, literally, stunned. Pruitt is the most boneheaded, stubborn coach we have ever had in my lifetime, and I thought Late Stage Fulmer was bad.

Then again, he has Retired on Active Duty Fulmer as his mentor now, so what do we expect.

P.S. JG is our starter next year, too......

How anyone else gona earn in practice when jg gets all the snaps with the ones? But i rather a player earn it in a game, practice is very far from game situations, maybe one day lruitt will learn this

I don't think you throw HB to the wolves by starting him against Bama. You let JG take that beating on the chin as a last service to our team.

Split reps in practice between HB/JG this week and let HB take over in the second half against Bama's 4th string.

The team belongs to from the 2nd half of Bama going forward.
Bull. Put him out there and have at it. Don’t assume he is an inept QB like JG. He has to see and understand what it is going to take on his part to succeed.

What good would it do for Pruitt to publicly crucify a player in the social media era? I hope Bailey starts Saturday but whether he does or not Pruitt answered the question like he should have...

He didnt seem to have any problem throwing oc and chandler under the bus

If you remember halftime of the bama game last year he said in order to compete with them we would have to recruit over our current players. He threw the whole team under the bus

It sucks but you can’t put Bailey out there for his first game with so few practice reps against Bama. Just gonna have to take our licks for this game. It’s not worth ruining the kid in his first game when he’s not had the reps to get prepared. It SUCKS to say that, but Shrout isn’t the answer and I don’t know what’s up the Mauer. Let’s just hope we get a miracle and JG plays the game of his life. Probably not I know....

How the hell does no one have a plausible answer to the insanity that’s going on, and I’m not referencing an insider on this board. I’m legitimately talking about the Knoxville media.

There is 50+ media members covering this football team, and not ONE of these mothers can get a legitimate answer as to why Pruitt is staking his entire career on #2? It’s maddening.

If Ole Miss ran up over 600yards of offense against Bama how are they "wolves". They are very good but more on offense then defense. It's not impossible to start Baily against Bama but it takes a game plan and it appears we don't have much coaching to do that. I do remember Kiffin having a game plan with Crompton that kept us in the game against Bama.
