I don't think it's unprofessional to fire a guy for being lazy.I don't disagree with your opinion that it's unprofessional, but that still doesn't make me think it's unlikely.
Like I said, I would imagine there was a personal issue - whether it be lack of effort or an issue with Pruitt or someone else on staff. But I think most of it was simply to send a message - and Fulmer has proven he'll do whatever Jeremy wants.
Fulmer's not going to crap on his alma mater for Pruitt. I think there has to be a legit reason. Brumbaugh had to do something deserving of being fired.I don't disagree with your opinion that it's unprofessional, but that still doesn't make me think it's unlikely.

That's why I believe Brumbaugh had to have done something off the field. QB is the absolutely worst position we have, and our blue chip OL has underperformed, but those coaches are safe? It makes no sense unless Pruitt has gone full blown Butch. Brumbaugh hasn't even had a spring practice or true summer camp with these guys. Covid blew up right after he was hired. He has to do something off the field. If that isn't the case, then I'm legit scared for our program....again.
What message board are you reading. Who in here has called for Pruitt's head? This is all head scratching on why Brumbaugh got fired. We are the stupidest fanbase in sports..six quarters of bad play mainly because of one position sucking all to hell...and we are ready to fire our head coach that just ran off eight in a row after taking over the worst Tennessee program of all time, and only has two real classes of his own to use so far...oh and a stupid freak pandemic and the local governments overreaction to it, and overreaching rules basically destroyed a whole offseason of vital development fir a very young team.
But y'all go ahead and keep freaking out and cursing Pruitt and staff for idiots...because that is really going to make it all better..
That would have been absolute best case scenario. If everyone is being honest, we won at the end of the year because of our defense. We didn’t ask JG to much of anything. And JG was terrible against Indiana.I thought we would be fine with JG and Shrout, too. Figured we could get to 6-4 and usher in the HB era next season.
I don't think losing Brumbaugh is some major loss. I'd guess there is a GA or analyst who can fill that role.
My guess is Pruitt felt like:
1) Brumbaugh was not gelling with the rest of the staff. Maybe effort or attitude related.
2) He saw the entire team and staff quit on Saturday, so he decided to send a message and Brumbaugh was the easiest target.
We have QB problems and JG went full Chernobyl his past six quarters of football. We’d seen 3 Mile Island from him but nothing quite like this and now we are forced to confront the fact that we really don’t have anything behind him. Assuming HB goes in he will probably be the least prepared true freshman to ever start an SEC game given he hasn’t even had the usual 3rd and 4fh string practice.I'm not quite there yet. Things are definitely headed the wrong direction, but there's still plenty of opportunities to turn the season around.

With them I thought:
Loss: UGA, UF, Bama
Probable loss: Auburn, AM
Probable Wins: SC, KY, MZ
Win: Vandy, Arkansas
Best case with those two was 6-4, more than likely 5-5. I figured Bailey would start and best those two out and we would have a chance for better. That did not happen and Pruitts love for JG is now backfiring hard. He lost his team on Saturday and JG has gone off the deep end. If Bailey/Maurer does not play well and take over this team, they will quit again and it will be a terrible season.
I’m not for the firing of Pruitt at this point, even though I have little to no faith in him now. However, Pruitt is the one who keeps trotting this perennial loser out on the field to lead this team and not having anyone else prepared.

Do you think the DL was the weakest part of this team? I don't for one minute believe Brumbaugh was "lazy". The guy has barely had a chance to even coach his unit since he got hired right before the corona outbreak. I'm convinced something more had to have happened.I don't think it's unprofessional to fire a guy for being lazy.
Yeah, there’s something he’s going to have to evaluate personally about why his team has laid down to start each of the last three seasons.2nd time under Pruitt this team has quit. Vanderbilt year 1 and Kentucky. If they don’t compete against bama that whole game he might as well take the bus back with them
