That is just dumb. The running game is not ineffective or effective because of the qb. The Rb and oline have 90% of the running game responsibility.
Exactly. Defenses aren't scared to blitz JG because they know it's only once in a blue moon that he might burn them. Plus, JG panics too easilyHard to block 8 with 5 no room to run, not blaming just JG but thats what happens when the defense doesn't respect a QBs throwing ability. Play calling didnt help but we're so damn limited with our QB situation
We have an offensive line that has simply quit! Is it because of JG or other players? Are the players gambling on the games? There is simply NO EXCUSE for the lousy play!!!Gray and Chandler go down way to easy. You really don’t see any Yards after contact from either. In the past we’ve had a better run game with a way lower overall quality o line due to having a good feature back who had speed and size. Do we have anyone on campus or recruit wise who may eventually fill this glaring hole? Will Cody Brown be that guy? Its nuts that a 2021 recruit is already bigger than our current RBs by 25 lbs

The biggest problem with the oline is having a QB who can't read a defense and change the presnap protection.
The second biggest problem with the online is that they are coached by Will Friend.
We fix the first two problems, we'll be able to open up the running game with the backs we have on the roster.
Oline grades. Nothing else needs to be saidThe QB can have every effect on the running game. Think of it this way if offensive theory is a bit too complicated for you, both teams have 11 guys on the field. We have a guy running the ball and a guy handing it off, so we are down to 9 guys. We have 2 WR who are running routes, so we are down to 7 guys. They have 2 guys covering our 2 wr, so they are down to 9 guys. Our 7 guys struggle to block their 9 guys. Now if we had a QB who could play action pass and beat them on deeper passes, they would have to put more guys in the secondary to cover space and that would leave them with 7 guys. Our 7 guys against their 7 guys would have the advantage and we could run the ball.
so tell me again how the QB has nothing to do with running the ball?????

He’s not a feature back RUNNING wise. Dynamic as a change up but no workhorse. Needs a Mark Ingram type to complement. After Hurd departed, he couldn’t hold up against SC. It’s a BVS thing to lament perceived loss. He led the SEC in total yards in 2016 and had less yards rushing than the preceding season. We definitely could have used him more, but a majority of posters here were inconsolable after Hurd was announced out for the A&M game. Met up with @UT_Dutchman at a tailgate and we were excited about the possibilities with Hurd/Kelly...we were in the minority. He needed a Kelly at least...even then. He can’t be that centerpiece in the backfield for an entire NFL season. Even last night he had 45 yards rushing...that’s not dominant.
