UGA calling out our snap count..

Please don't play stupid. They were DEFINITELY trying to effect the count/cause OL movement and that crap is coached from the top down. Question is, was what they were doing legal? I'm not fluent enough in the rules of the game to answer that. That's a question I'd rather a qualified person answer, rather than fans on a message board.

You mean like the time when TN lined up on 4th down and tried to get our D-line to jump with a hard count? Come on, fellas, this is big boy football. No whine allowed.

Don’t get me started on the refs, we are going to have to beat them too in most of our games. If they call it both ways, I’m fine. How many offensive holdings calls didn’t get called on Ga Saturday? They held the whole game, so did their cornerbacks.

Edit: at least we didn’t get the Arkansas/AU crew. Pittman has a right to be irate.

Funny you should say that. I've watched the replay several times and I was thinking that UT was getting away with lots of holds. Ojulari got held every other play on the edge and it was never called. One was a clear takedown when he had a clear line for a sack.

Read my post a few more times and maybe you'll figure out what I was really asking... 🙄

Pompous much? Everyone here knows what a linebacker does and that our OL got its collective a$$ handed to them. This is not a news flash brought by you. Not a thing you said was actually a retort to anything being said here. I usually don't place opposing team posters on ignore, but since you bring nothing of actual value, buh-bye...
Don't do me any favors.

I wish you were more like secking. Best opposing fan on this site.

Why are you here?

That's complete apples and oranges. But . . . I will say that stemming the front late in the snap count in coordination with the cadence was perfectly legal and impressive to pull off so many times.

We probably needed to vary the snap count, go silent, go fast a few times etc to help the O-line out a little.

Well, if one team is doing something that's affecting you and it's working without being called, and you don't adopt it and use it, how smart are you. 1) it didn't happen or the prior teams we played would be whining about it too 2) if it did happen the refs would have called it

Listing to WNML for insight and they say UGA was calling our snap count. It's illegal and inexcusable for the referees to not realize it with only 25k in the stands. That's how they got so many 5 yarders and were able to speed rush us. I remember Pruitt showing the refs his fingers for the number of times they had done it and forced a penalty. No offsides on them all game either. Did it cost us the game?? Not saying it did, but explains those penalties for sure and some of those free rushers.

You missed the memo that clearly laid out that JG is the reason for every ill that plagues UT football

Tell me how it's okay for the offense to try and cause movement on the defense but not vice versa? UGA was not calling out your snap count. Refs are right there. Can't be done. Next subject of whining. (We already did refs cheating, chop blocks and snap count). Any other excuses? Did someone curse in front of Fulmer's daughter?

He is the ill that we are not competitive with Georgia, Florida and Alabama. Georgia & Alabama came in this year with question marks at Qb. We came in with a 5th year guy.
Advantage-Tenn , right ? , but Nooooooo. Same ole story since Dobbs left.

Because it's apples and oranges. . . As long as the QB doesn't dip his shoulders or bob his head excessively, a hard count is fine. Conversely, the defense can move around all they want, short of stepping into the neutral zone and having an o-lineman react, but they can't verbally simulate the snap count.

I've got no idea whether they were actually yelling or not and I never claimed it impacted the outcome of the game. Just trying to understand the false starts and whether it was the movement or the noise or both that were affecting the o-line.

Look dawwwg, bottom line, I've never denied whatever was happening, we failed to adjust and that's on our coaches. No whine here.. I simply said that it was pretty obvious they were intentionally trying to provoke movement. Hard counts, subtle movement, etc., I get it, it's all part of the game. All I was asking about is the legality of what was going on because I HONESTLY don't know the rules on it. All you seem to be able to offer is that the refs would call it if it was illegal. Spare me on the sanctity of the refs. They miss and ignore A LOT in this league and you know it.

Just a smidge of protection from the Oline in the 2nd half and those turnovers don’t happen. He didn’t play great, but he was not entirely responsible for being outscored 27-0 in the second half

NO! He held on too long on two of the fumble sacks. The interception should of been a throw away. The first fumble JG was trying to maneuver in the pocket holding the ball down by his side with one hand. Pee Wee players have more sense than that.

es. 9-5-1d

ART. 1 . . . No player shall act in an unsportsmanlike manner once the officials assume authority for the contest. Examples are, but not limited to:

d. Using disconcerting acts or words prior to the snap in an attempt to interfere with offensive signals or movements.

The Referee and Umpire line up on either side of the Mike LB. If he's barking the same cadence as the QB, they'd hear it. Kinda like your wife hearing you yell from the other end of the dinner table. We're kicking a dead horse here. Just because the Vols lost doesn't mean UGA or the refs are cheating. It just means one program is better than the other for now.

When you are in your backswing or starting your downward swing and some one hollers, what usually happens to your effort? Same, when someone calls out a signal or something as your QB and center are trying to start a play that has big 300 pounders coiled like springs waiting for the count? Same results as your golf swing when it is interrupted.
I am not a golfer but played saxophone in hs band. Can someone please explain these golf references in musical terms? (I also play guitar, if that helps).

Now, wasn't that easier than making remarks about whining and such?

By the way, thanks. 👍

Edit; my bad, I didn't read the last before I commented.

I never said anyone was "cheating" merely "playing the game" as far as I could tell. Tried to have a conversation but you couldn't resist ending with a smartass comment.

Peace dawg, you can carry on with out me.

Not question your statement, but how do you know this is what was going on. Please I would like to know. Again not questioning just for my knowledge bank would like to know...
I knew from experience as soon as we had a snap hit JG in the chest while he was still setting the protection that they were calling the cadence. That comes from playing & coaching. I coach 12U travel football in GA and i have to tell my dlinemen all the time about that , heck sometimes they will swipe at the ball during the snap. U can also see Pruitt telling the refs after the 4th or 5th time they did it
