Next two games YOU are the coach

I’m the coach....so I see Tennessee can’t get it done with it’s current QB. I let the top two “other” guys have all the snaps 1 & 2 throughout the week.

VS KY I start whoever looked the “most complete” and the “most ready”......not necessarily who was the best. Depending on the situation I may give the other one a shot as well......but I would not simply rotate them in and out.

Do I think Tennessee could beat KY with JG....yes; however I don’t think Tennessee could be what I think they are capable of being with JG.....therefore I would make a change.
This. And if both guys suck, go back to JG. It’s that simple.

Then get on the phone and find a transfer

I’m certain they will just send JG out against Kentucky. What’s possible is Kentucky just starts stacking the box and then we have to start throwing downfield. If he makes a couple of mistakes, we’ll probably see Shrout or Maurer come in for a couple of drives and only call runs or screens. Then JG comes back out again in the 2nd half, and the same thing happens again.

I would play JG against KY but if he has back to back turnovers that he is responsible for I’d put in Shrout or Maurer. If we have a sizable lead let HB play some to get experience.

Alabama- We should give Maurer first quarter, JG second and Shrout third quarter. Play the best playing QB 4th quarter. Maybe HB last quarter to throw Bama off?
Play Bailey this week. Freshmen play QB all the time in today’s game with good results. Would much better play him vs KY than Alabama even if Bama’s defense so far has stunk it up.

I would start 2021 prep, this season is a mulligan and we clearly aren't in a class that can compete for championships. So I enter 2021 with a very experienced QB. Manning, Clausen, Ainge etc all took over around this point in their freshman years. It's going to be a lump taking year anyway, take lumps getting better instead of staying stagnant with a QB that has shown his ceiling.

Really, after one ass whippin?

Looking at the dumpster fire start for SEC and B12, at this moment we still have an outside shot at CFPs if we can take care of a bama team that surrendered 48 points and it could have been worse. Florida and aTm are mortals and Auburn looks very suspect. Arky is better but still should be beatable. 7 or 8 wins isn't a stretch for this team and 9-1 is possible. I'd have to say we are the 3rd - 5th best team in the league right now and #2 showed some serious vulnerabilities on defense, especially last night.

But you want to throw in the towel?

Besides Vandy, Kentucky is probably the worst team left in our schedule. If someone else doesn’t get reps this week, they never will.

Unless Gatewood starts, we'll be stacking the box against Kentucky too!

No question JG would be on the bench. I would start shrout or maurer. From what the reports say, it would be shrout, but I'm not at practice every day. If he sucks it up, I would bring in maurer. JG can come cleanup if both of my backups suck. If HB is ready enough, I might throw him in there too.

I would do this the rest of the season to get them ready for next year. JG just isn't very good.

I don't think changing QBs is throwing in the towel.

I'll play. JG doesn't start again or play. Pick a starter but be prepared to get the next guy in if the starter can't produce. My second guy in might be Bailey if no other reason future recruiting. My biggest change is Chaney play calling. We will attack the middle of the field with passes(which worked best for us last night) for sustaining drives. Would have the pass routes with sharp cuts. Looks like most of our routes are weaves more than cuts to get separation. Runs would be more than runs up the middle. Use misdirection which I did not see. Add player in motion which we hardly ever do. Run a successful play more than once a game. Tired of seeing a new wrinkle or special play work and then it's put on the shelf and not run again. Run it back to back until they stop it. (Steve Spurrier used this all the time). Just my opinion

What makes me question Pruitt's ability to be a HC, is that he is incapable or unwilling to evaluate the detailed play of the offense, and make HC decisions.

He's myopically focused on the defense, and neglecting offensive player development and coaching, that's not how you reach success as a HC.
I agree for one reason. He involves himself in the offense. I feel the best HCs understand their own limitations and let those that specialize in what he doesn’t know do their jobs. I don’t get involved in defense for that reason alone. Pruitt should question his own ability to evaluate qbs at this point. It doesn’t mean he’s a bad coach, it just means he has limits just like anyone else and he should let Cheney chose his own personal for his offense and develop who he chooses.

I’d ask for my paycheck up front......then I’d quit, cause I love the team and I know I’m not good enough.......but I’d take the money first.

I would give JG a head set and say we need to work on your future as a coach. Strout or Maurer would be ideal. It was asked if I were the coach! Bailey your up. I know your gonna make mistakes but we have at least 3 yrs to correct them!

We are not beating Alabama with JG or playing for any championships. Get the other guys in now and see what they can do. It’s the best option for this team this year and beyond.

I think we've still got a lot to play for, and I believe so does Pruitt. Now, admittedly, we ain't winning championships this year, but there's no one left on the schedule that should inspire awe amongst the team, coaches, or fans. Of course, a couple of the games aren't looking as winnable as the rest, but it's not beyond the realm of possibility to go 7-3 in a 10 game SEC schedule, and wind up in a good bowl. That's still something meaningful to play for.

That said, if I'm the coach, JG is the back up's back up. I don't know who I'd start, probably Shrout til Bailey is ready. Maurer is to slight of frame for SEC play (I really like him tho ... he's got moxy).

Well, I'll go put on my fire retardant suit.

While trying to figure out how the hell I was going to stop Terry Wilson and Co. from running for 500 yards next week, I would call Saban. Ask if there were any players that he might want for his roster. If there were(which I doubt) I would work a transfer trade to get out of the Alabama game.
Do the same with Jimbo and Mullen. Schedule to play Vandy three additional games making an agreement with Mason assuring him one win out of the 4 games so he can keep his job. I could coach the team to a five win season.

Just call Leach, KY only gained 157 total for the game...

Start JG against Kentucky. At that point, just react to what I see. If he plays decent and things are going well, leave him in. If the offense can't find it's footing, pull him and give the reigns to Shrout. As for Bama, I probably rotate JG and Shrout early on and go with who plays best
