Next two games YOU are the coach

Bailey wasn’t able to really have much practice and you want to throw him to the fire? What happens when he struggles and costs us games? Because the chances of that are SUPER high. Then some will be calling him a bust and calling Pruitt dumb for playing him.

Maurer or Shrout should be playing. Or play them both. Bailey should not see the field this year.
Thank you! The comments about Bailey being a bust if he doesn't perform, or he should transfer if he doesn't see the field..Have y'all lost your effin minds? For the 50 millionth damn time, the kid had no spring practice and missed the majority of fall camp! 😵

I would play JG against KY but if he has back to back turnovers that he is responsible for I’d put in Shrout or Maurer. If we have a sizable lead let HB play some to get experience.

Alabama- We should give Maurer first quarter, JG second and Shrout third quarter. Play the best playing QB 4th quarter. Maybe HB last quarter to throw Bama off?
I would start whoever has earned the #2 spot vs UK to get them "warmed up". If they faltered, I would go to number 3 before going back to JG. I might even consider splitting the UK game between #2 and #3.

Either way, I would want someone who could do more against Bama than we saw vs UGA.

People will or should understand he's a freshman learning on the job. If he's the great QB he's made out to be, he should be fine as the season goes through November. The true dividend comes next year when we have a sophomore gunslinger with game experience along with a boat load of other talent in place.

Maurer and Shrout with 3 and 2 years in the system can't beat out JG at this point. I suspect one or both transfer soon.

I'd find me a RB that can fall forward for 3 yards, just find a bigger body. Create some different looks running the ball. Try to work someone in at the TE position. Play JG until he forces me to not play him. I would of probably set him down the last 8 minutes of that game, but i see why Pruitt didn't. JG is the QB for better or worse, we got worse last week. Hopefully Dr. Jekyll is back this week.

Defensively.. I would work on defending the middle of the field better, try not have as many costly penalties. Getting lined up before the snap would be a big help also.

Maurer & Shrout 1 & 2

Stress importance of quick, complete progressions - throw the frickin' W/L year away and get this QB thing figured out. Man - It has been a burr on TN's hiney for way, way too long.

Bailey plays against Kentucky if we are up by 3 TDs.

hahaha... IF JG could run the option, I use his size and put him in occasionally, but I haven't seen us run an option in.... I don't know, since black and white TV. hahahahahaha!!!!!

If you're going to pull JG, now is the time to do it. It gives the incumbent a full week as the #1, and a get your feet wet game v UK before Bama. If this happens, you don't look back, barring an injury JG's career as a starter is over. You commit to the next man up, and go all in. They don't need to be looking over their shoulder. I'm a JG fan, but after five years, he is who he is and he's reached his ceiling. His ceiling isn't good enough to get UT to the next level.

He isnt ready. And would you trade losses to teams like UK, Vandy ans TAMU and Arky just to hope he is good next year?

I would prepare to play 2 QB's much like Spurrier did for a good while at UF. BUT, we don't have 2 QBs that are as good as what he had so.......

The truth is that none of the three options may be ready... maybe there is something wrong that we cannot see. ?? I think Maurer is a better add than Bailey at this point - I just don't think we need Bailey in this year.

Whomever they replace JG with, I am willing to turn the TV and radio off and let this season go (yes, including loosing to Vandy)-- for them to figure this out. They are very, very far behind the curve on the QB development, and it baffles the heck out of me.

I’m the coach....so I see Tennessee can’t get it done with it’s current QB. I let the top two “other” guys have all the snaps 1 & 2 throughout the week.

VS KY I start whoever looked the “most complete” and the “most ready”......not necessarily who was the best. Depending on the situation I may give the other one a shot as well......but I would not simply rotate them in and out.

Do I think Tennessee could beat KY with JG....yes; however I don’t think Tennessee could be what I think they are capable of being with JG.....therefore I would make a change.
Exactly. Lets try the others and bring JG in if they don't perform. Seems to be the way JG likes it anyways. The pressure is off when he comes off the bench.

Shrout earnes the #2 spot. I dont know why he isnt starting. But you are right. The QB development is severly lacking. If that is attributed to Weinke then he needs to go.

LOL. I think we're all happy that you aren't the head coach...more like a head case.

Strategic planners and leaders have a long term plan to execute. Losing a 2 td game doesn't change general strategy, only small bits and pieces. You don't knee jerk react. That is what weak fake leaders with zero vision do. You have to have GRIT to be a leader.

i'd like to see us control the line of scrimmage against Kentucky. If I'm the coach, i'm focusing on playing the same players, but being able to move the others off the line. I might rotate the lines around to find the right combo to accomplish my goal...

And I think we MUST move the line in order to get to a successful season.

Oh, and if I'm the coach, i'm keeping a close eye on the team for the COVID compliance this week, we can't afford any breakdowns, those are the only changes I'm making..

Ok, I'll play.

First and foremost. I'd call JG into my office. And draw a game plan on the board for him.

I'd start by drawing a big square with lines on it. Then I'd draw a big rectangle off to the side with a big W on it. Then I'd draw two more similar building a little smaller. One with an M. And one with a B.

JG says alright coach nice pic!

I then say with a grin, almost as good as the pic you threw against Georgia.

Sorry Coach. One more chance JG says. (like he hasn't gotten enough chances already)

Alright alright alright I say in my best corn bread and McConaughey voice. I then proceed to draw a stick figure. Big power T on it with football in his hand so he knows clearly this is him on this play.

Oh yeah that's me right there coach! JG squeals excitedly. He giggles a little and says I'm lovin it!

I say well I'm glad JG because (I then start drawing lines from QB to the buildings with letters on them like a pass play) the M is Mc Donald's, the B is Burger King, and the W is Walmart. Pick one because you've got no future in football son.

Then I'd call everh backup QB we got into the office and tell them whichever one balls out in practice this week plays the first half of the Kentucky game. Runner up gets the 2nd half. And whoever plays the best against Kentucky gets to start against Bama.

Now JG, be a team player and get your teammates a Big Mac!

I don't think we should lose to those teams with him at QB. At the best we get low level game management play from the QB most weeks. We will beat those teams by running the ball effectively and playing defense or we will lose. JG was 6-17 for 120 yards, 1td, 1int vs Candy last year. He was 18-31 for 221 yards and 2 interceptions vs Indiana in the bowl game. He basically balls out vs Missouri and struggles with other teams. We can get that level of play from Bailey and he will be battle tested and ready to roll next year if he is the QB we were told he was. If he's not ready the staff needs to look at changes in who evaluates and recruits the position and especially who coaches it.

Start a new QB, let JG watch. Let him come off the bench since he does better in that role anyway. This is the season to experiment with everything since it’s a fluke/wash anyway.

Dude he is a true FR who missed all of spring practice. If he had a full spring practice then you may have a valid point. You Bailey fanboys are hilarious. you are setting this kid up for failure. When he goes out and struggles, then you will bash him and the staff for playing him. Call him a bust and not what we thought he would be. This COVID crap changed everything. Its not a normal season and we shouldnt expect bailey to play.
