1-11 on third down is obviously an awful stat, but how many of those were passes? I believe 5 of those were runs if I'm not mistaken. We also moved the chains pretty good on 1st and 2nd down but I don't see many giving JG any credit for those. I think there were 13 first downs gained with passing.

Don't get me wrong, I'm certainly not a JG apologist in the least, I'm just saying he wasn't as awful as people like to make him out to be. He's far from perfect of course, but he's far from Nate Peterman playing at the swamp too.

In no way am I comparing the two, but you know who is pretty known for overthrowing receivers and sailing passes too? Cam Newton. And he's played in a superbowl and is currently the starting QB for the freaking Patriots.

I like that JG is getting credit for making the right decisions in Columbia, because he certainly did. Didn't turn the ball over, and didn't look like a deer in headlights either. I'll take that as progress, especially considering there wasn't spring ball and limited fall camp as well...and of course losing your two go-to WR's in Jennings and Calloway.

The future is bright. GBO!
Also, did you just compare JG to a heisman winning Cam Newton? Not sure if serious.

Titans are just trying to get an extra bye week to get healthy. Smart move tbh. In all seriousness, though, I hope the NFL treats this like the MLB did. No reason to go all crazy and cancel the season. I do not foresee that happening, but you never know.

While I hate to encourage the endless JG debate .. I'm going to throw my .02 in.

I find it odd that JGs weakness in the SC game was his strength in the past. The intermediate throws and 3rd down conversion rate.

I have not heard anyone suggest this may be the issue .. but I think JG misses his security blanket (Jennings). Jennings was the 3rd down go to guy for JG. He was so confident in Jennings he could relax and just get the ball in the vicinity of Jennings and it would be a 1st down.

This is where so many receivers being out for Covid reasons during fall practice has prevented JG from building the chemistry needed to find that new 3rd down security blanket.

we all know they aren't going to be fixed or they would have fixed them already over the past 4 years.
His problems the last 4 years have been mental and they look fixed on Saturday night, so there goes that theory. Shoot, Crompton went from hot garbage to a decent QB his last year. Never underestimate the push from it being your last year...or Chaney.

Mechanics haven't been the issue, so I'm not sure how it applies to this statement.

Timing is king with most passing attacks, his only returning pass catcher from last year is Palmer. Who wasn't the possession guy (usually JJ or Calloway) so I definitely think it's part of it, plus play calling really didn't take advantage of screens etc. plus USC dialed it up on 3rd down a ton.
