In large part because of JG's 1 for 7 on 3rd down, USCe had over 34 minutes of possession while UT had just over 25. USCe had 74 plays. UT had 65.So, you are blaming our defensive woes on JG? Get real. He played an average game and we escaped with the W. The defensive woes are not on JG, so you can take your arrogant comments and ...
No. There are reasons not the least of which is JG's age and experience. Then you have that JG is by all accounts a practice All American and Pruitt is completely convinced that practice always translates to games. Then you have an old school notion that has cost HC's their job in the current era of football... that you can have a QB who isn't a difference maker as a play maker so long as they don't turn the ball over.I dont think Pruitt starts JG because he "likes" him more. That's pure stupid
You rely solely on stats to make your case and totally ignore the intangibles a player like Maurer brings to the offense. Intangibles JG simply does not possess. That game he was 50% passing with as many turnovers as tds. He was also responsible for only one more td for us than he gave up directly to them.
This game was better.
A game with 60% passing, no turnovers, and a SEC win would definitely be a career highlight for BM.
Thought we were talking about Pruitt? I'm sure it might have happened somewhere. I don't care. I'm talking about UT. And no, pruitt is starting JG because he is our best option. Not because he likes him more. Take that **** somewhere else.. Don’t think it happens? It happens all the time. Do you REALLY think Fromm was more talented than Justin Fields? I mean..... Kirby makes millions too. How many people, coaches, players do you think agree with his evaluation of qbs?
okay.I’ve said this before and I’ll keep going back to the point. He completed 54% of his passes in games he was prepared as a starter. JG completed 59% last year. Bo Nix was at 57%. Which means JG was only 5% better and Bo was only 3% better. When you’re fair in the comparison it shows he was right where he should be as a freshman and not far behind our 4th year starter with very little preparation. To me, that’s inspiring as I’d think it should’ve been to everyone. Then taken into consideration that he wasn’t thrown in until murderous row only makes it that much more impressive.
4 of his 5 ints were out of his control. I’m not going to go back through them but he could’ve just as easily only had 1 int as he did 5. Before you throw up “near” ints 1) most of those were games JG was prepared as the starter and 2) JG had just as many
I think the others would have been higher turnover risks. I do not think they would have missed that many open receivers. I think Shrout and Maurer are both more accurate and timely throwing downfield. You rely solely on stats to make your case and totally ignore the intangibles a player like Maurer brings to the offense. Intangibles JG simply does not possess.
Would Maurer throw an interception? Yea, he just might. However, the energy he injects into the offense is well worth it IMO. Give him the reigns. Hell, give Shrout or Bailey the reigns. It's time to end the JG experiment. No better season to do it than this one.. It's a 'mulligan' season anyway.
That part of the game, for them, worries me the least. Problem is, we won't find out this year unless, God forbid, JG is injured. Which NO ONE wants to see. Unfortunately I believe CJP is to conservative offensively and afraid of that kind of change unless it's forced upon him. Not sure whether it's his defensive mindset or just to much time around Nicky..I think the others would have been higher turnover risks. I do not think they would have missed that many open receivers. I think Shrout and Maurer are both more accurate and timely throwing downfield.
The question none of us are likely able to answer is whether they could have managed the run game as well.
He made a change last year and JG was not "statistically" bad to that point of the season. You could argue that September was statistically his best month. That part of the game, for them, worries me the least. Problem is, we won't find out this year unless, God forbid, JG is injured. Yea the other two have shown they are way more accurate.I think the others would have been higher turnover risks. I do not think they would have missed that many open receivers. I think Shrout and Maurer are both more accurate and timely throwing downfield.

Neither BM or JS have been given enough actual playing time to know what they can do. I think there is potential but we will never know unless they get on the field. Same way with Bailey. Maybe we can blowout Missouri and see the other Qb’s play some.Yea the other two have shown they are way more accurate.
Especially Maurer.
I mean 46%. What else can you say?
That boy don't miss.
It happened right in front of your face to one of our big three that we can’t beat! How happy are we to see that Kirby made that mistake and now Fields is in an Ohio state uni rather than UGA? You don’t think they had fans on their message board criticizing other fans for thinking Kirby made the wrong decision because “He’s the coach and he makes millions”? He makes more than Pruitt to make the right call and he failed. As a result we benefited and they are now “on our level”.Thought we were talking about Pruitt? Bama has changed with times...and realized an avg QB doesn't win championships....hasnt had a non playmaker since. 2013/2014Avg quarterback play is ok. The bammers have lived off of it. (Wilson, McElroy, Coker etc..). As has been pointed out third down conversion and explosive plays are what makes winners. JG is inconsistent. The psychology of coming off the bench seems to help his consistency. Ultimate 6th man. JP and crew saw this.
Lol. Whatever dude. You will never convince me that pruitt starts JG based on their personal relationship. I'm pretty sure 90 percent of volnation will agree that its just a stupid tin foil hat theory. Absolute nonsense. It happened right in front of your face to one of our big three that we can’t beat! And we are talking about UT because what we seen this past weekend with UGA could very well be us in 2021 for all the same reasons. JG is serviceable but he’s not a qb you can challenge the SEC with. There are more talented qbs on the roster that may not ever get the chance to prove themselves as such due to what can only be explained as a personal relationship because the talent can’t be seen outside of experience.
