The CDC exposed their political underwear under their hazmat suits with their ridiculous, completely unscientific directives for protestors.
Changed my opinion of them forever.
Just a quick note: Sweden, BY NO MEANS, has better healthcare, especially for the elderly. I have a close physician friend with entire in-law family that lives there. Sweden gives very little priority to spending money on those who are in their later years or whose prognosis is not good. I can't remember the exact number, but their vent count is absurdly low. His family actually flies to the U.S. and pays cash for procedures.I dont think a mask is going to make that difference up though. Basically everyone in sweden is already healthier than us and has "better healthcare". And I would think you could also look at how we have comoartively handled previous outbreaks. To say if the US flubbed Covid or not. It's possible that we did way worse than Sweden overall but actually better than we do conventionally. Basically without a baseline I dont think a comparison is helpful.
Personally I think more than anything it's the healthy citizen part that matters. As it would for any disease.
I was raking leaves and putting them in my utility trailer. It was around Thanksgiving, but was a warm sunny day and I had short sleeves on. When I went inside my forearm was itching and a huge whelp came up with a red ring around it. It was hard to the touch. The ring never got any bigger and an ulcer didnโt form, but it itched like hell. Hydrocortisone and Benedryl didnโt phase it.... I tried Ivarest and it helped but I had to reapply almost hourlyMe too. A couple of years ago I got bit by several somethings on my legs. I had been out in this shed at a plant and icthed for weeks like crazy. I actually went to the DR to get this prescription ointment and it was amazing. Instant relief. Never knew if it was chiggers spiders or what,
Are you accusing the Swedes of having common sense? Its a hard concept but I get it. Ashes to ashes and dust to dust. Thanks @kiddiedoc for sharing.Just a quick note: Sweden, BY NO MEANS, has better healthcare, especially for the elderly. I have a close physician friend with entire in-law family that lives there. Sweden also has a very large immigrant population in the major cities from the recent refugee surges into Europe. They want zero to do with Swedish culture other than cash the benefit checks, and they followed little to none of the distancing guidelines. Consequently a lot of them were infected.Just a quick note: Sweden, BY NO MEANS, has better healthcare, especially for the elderly. The "virtual learning" thing is a complete joke. I hear about it all day, and I don't even feel like providing details. Two new normal tidbits from the school front:
Apparently a parent of a elementary school kid who is 100% stay at home took a video of a zoom class where one kid did not have their mask on all the way. Instead of communicating this to the teacher via zoom they emailed the video directly to the superintendent and demanded something be done. It's an attorney of course, I'll go out on a limb and say a fully mature Karen who puts out granola for Halloween.
Secondly, kids have figured out that they can change their name to "reconnecting..." in zoom calls and just **** off. It appears as if their session is having connection issues while they're murdering each other in GTA.
What did I sell? I was passing along information, itโs up to you to do with it what you will. We have a president that canโt get through 2 (fragmented) sentences without a lie yet many on here are willing to look past it without question... yet I give real information and you get your feathers ruffled because you donโt like it? If you donโt like it, prove it wrong, donโt shoot the messenger.
By the way, that dude has accused me all long of predicting that the virus would have a 7% death rate... show me where in that conversation I conveyed that?

Amazingly, that's not who even died. They completely f'd up their handling of nursing homes, or they would be a shining diamond in their approach.Sweden also has a very large immigrant population in the major cities from the recent refugee surges into Europe. We didnโt run into any of the Chattanooga teams unless it was at the state tournament. โ83-โ85 was my three years in high school. East Ridge, Cleveland , Notre Dame and McCallie were all very good back then. Itโs funny to think back before the split .... there were just as many state champs from public schools as private. Nowadays I wish theyโd let the public state champ in each weight class square off against the private champ in order to have a true state champion.Cleveland, John Lennon was a 119 126 state champ in 80/81
Mike Lennon was 138 state champ in 87
Howard Langford was 126 state champ in 86
Lionel Langford was 160 state champ in 88
I figured these guys would cover most of the 80s.
Back before the public/private split (97?)
I hope some day we can have a few beverages of choice in February. Just trust me: my work life is dedicated to caring for children, and we are failing them miserably. It's all about checking off boxes and getting funding.
