Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

I get what you are saying, but it's actually more complicated than that. Say a 53 year old man with a BMI of 40, type 2 diabetes, and COPD (all the result of an unhealthy lifestyle) contracts CV19 and dies. Chances are slim that a healthy 53 year old with none of those conditions will succomb to the illness. So, technically, it was really the multiple medical issues the first man had that cost him his life.

All that being said, I do agree that the CDC story is being taken way out of context.

I made the cut at 52 . It wasn’t pleasant for about two weeks but no lasting effects that I can tell . The only thing I may would have done differently is possibly taken B12 or supplements because I felt like sleeping all the time and didn’t eat as much .

You are the one who compared getting hit by a train to getting COVID.

Getting hit by a train would kill anyone. Getting COVID doesn’t. Garbage analogy IMO.

Well the only known case where someone had the china virus & died but did not die of the china virus was george floyd.

In your experience, what would the ME record the cause of death to be in your scenario outlined?

My point, and it should be obvious even to the most obtuse, is what kills you kills you. That’s it. In the broader understanding of this virus of course the context matters. But the CDC announcement today was nothing surprising or new to what were generally held beliefs. And if you under stand what the CDC actually said then you would know that.

I understand what you are saying, but I still say we saw an acceleration of deaths and not really an increase. Time will tell if average deaths decreases noticeably for a few quarters.

Certainly glad you have recovered.

This is not new information. I find it odd that people don't realize how common it is for people over 50 to have unknown medical conditions. You find out when you get Covid.
People with underlying conditions are less likely to survive. What qualifies as an underlying condition? Obesity, diabetes, being over 65, asthma, and many other things that are widespread in the American population.

Of course there is a lot of overlap here

More than 100 million Americans have high blood pressure, AHA says.

CDC Press Releases.
Obesity is a Common, Serious, and Costly Disease
Losing weight would do infinitely more for our citizens than putting on a mask.

Mine lasted 6-7 days...... and I felt like sleeping all the time too..... and did when it hit me. It was strange because one minute I’d feel fine and the next I’d be exhausted

If your loved one is morbidly obese, has stage four cancer, and gets hit by a train and after the train hits them they experience zero brain or heart function. What would you say killed them?
Covid 19 obviously.

My grandfather's cause of death is listed as bone cancer. The tumour cells weren't what killed him. His body was weakened so much by the chemo it couldnt fight off infections.

I have always thought they listed CoD by the worst cause or underlying disease that cause the fatal symptom. At least when there are choices.

Like someone getting Covid and then Mycondratis (sp?) Kills them, idk if it actually kills, they are going to say Covid not mycondratis.

At least that's how I have assumed it works.

Taking away video games and tv would help more than anything
Not really, I have lost 150 lbs and I play more video games than I did gaining the weight. Parents encouraging their kids to get outside and be active, by doing it themselves, is enough. Still time for Twitch schengigans and binge watching.
