Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

I’m sorry...... are we trusting science or not? The latest CDC recommendations state that after a positive test and 10 days of quarantine..... the person is no longer contagious IF asymptomatic at that time..... They do not recommend re-testing due to the fact that people can test positive for at least 3 months after the initial positive test.

I work in a Long term care setting and work hands on with our most delicate population..... that seems like it should be more restrictive than football but those are the new guidelines regardless of what you are doing.

Maybe it'd be fine. Although I'm not sure much data exists on how the virus responds to the cardiopulmonary stress of playing college football.

Why I won't be getting a vaccination - even if one is developed:

Pretty simple. I don't trust our government. The Trump administration has proven time and time again that the ONLY things that really matter to it are money and money. There is no way on God's green Earth that I'd believe the rushed, Trump-hyped, BS-flying process of developing a safe and effective vaccine will do just that by early 2021.

# of coronavirus vaccines developed by mankind to date: zero.
Fastest time a vaccine developed to date: 4 years.
# of years waiting on a vaccine for HIV/AIDS: 40.

Based on what I've read to date, I believe these types of viruses simply mutate too fast. We may get a vaccine that produces an immune response for CV-19 v. 1.02 which served as the genetic basis for said vaccine, but unfortunately CV-19 v. 1.04 will be in circulation by the time it's actually brought to market. Result: partial or no long-term immunity.

Donald Trump is probably right about one thing: CV-19 will just "disappear" one day after it runs its course... far before the medical field figures out how to prevent its spread. Unfortunately, this is probably a year or two away.

The net/net is our society, business, sports, etc. will be stuck in a perpetual start/stop redux as new waves and genetic strains of CV-19 circulate seasonally.

We like to think we're masters of our own universe, but that's simply not true: Mother Nature is still in charge here.
Would you trust a vaccine if Hillary Clinton were President?

They will be tested weekly just like I am..... If they are asymptomatic then there is really not many issues short term or long term involving anything.... They should be completely fine bc if they have any symptoms at all then they won’t be playing.

Actually it was in May during my anniversary.... don’t tell my wife I don’t know when that is lol.....the stats show that Tennessee has done a better job with less damage to our economy.... I think we should open everything all the way and go for it.

So did you decide to pass on the red state vs. blue state thing before or after going back and reading what I actually said?

Pigeon Forge was not “Slamming” until late May, at best. It was closed until May 22, just like the rest of the state. The following two charts show number of cases in Tennessee from before May 22 and after May 22. I’ve cropped out the dates to leave you in suspense about which is which:

Cases mean nothing to me..... cases are a good thing imo..... I care about hospitalizations and deaths..... I didn’t mention the red versus blue thing bc it’s not that important to go back and try to look up.... I was just saying your post sounded extremely politically biased which I don’t give a sh$t about.

There is going to be some hospitalization and death..... how excessive is it compared to normal.... I feel like we should open up like Sweden and protect our elderly and frail like Germany did.

After hearing for so long that we are different than other countries, how is it now that it's a good idea to mimic those which are so different?

Slowing down the spread still needs to be the focus. How do people keep thinking that the "screw it, we're moving on" approach will result in anything but a disaster?

I have felt that should be our approach the entire time..... build up herd immunity and eventually the disease dies out or weakens..... protect the sick and weak.... the problem is that every time I go out.... it never fails there is an elderly person hauling around an oxygen tank to be able to eat at the pizza buffet or something else....

Right, you’ve said that several times. I know what your opinion is, I want to know what it’s based on. So far, you seem completely unable to articulate it beyond this vague notion of “excessive compared to normal.” Do you think all the “normal” reasons people die just took a break during the pandemic?

So, turning to your ability to analyze data: you attempted to compare Trump Virus statistics in two states... some of those comparisons involved only a single day of data, and there was no consideration given to the geographical differences between those two states or how that should be considered in evaluating the efficacy of the state’s response. Your only rebuttal when confronted with those geographical differences was to say that the person pointing them out is being political. Furthermore, even this lame accusation was partially based on a misreading or misrepresentation of what I said.

None of these things shout “this is the person we should be listening to,” IMO.

TN has done a good job 7 in US in per capita testing 13th in the world with one of the lowest death rates

If it were that simple, sure. But when people have the attitude of protect the weak, they are essentially saying, "not my problem".. it sure as hell becomes their problem when essential healthcare isn't available because the system is swamped, and people are bickering over whether a death was just collateral damage.

Shutdown redux part 5 still won't convince some that taking a series of marginally effective preventative measures equates to a substantial difference. If it's a pride thing, it just needs to be sucked up for the welfare of the nation.
