Why I won't be getting a vaccination - even if one is developed:
Pretty simple. I don't trust our government. The Trump administration has proven time and time again that the ONLY things that really matter to it are money and money. There is no way on God's green Earth that I'd believe the rushed, Trump-hyped, BS-flying process of developing a safe and effective vaccine will do just that by early 2021.
# of coronavirus vaccines developed by mankind to date: zero.
Fastest time a vaccine developed to date: 4 years.
# of years waiting on a vaccine for HIV/AIDS: 40.
Based on what I've read to date, I believe these types of viruses simply mutate too fast. We may get a vaccine that produces an immune response for CV-19 v. 1.02 which served as the genetic basis for said vaccine, but unfortunately CV-19 v. 1.04 will be in circulation by the time it's actually brought to market. Result: partial or no long-term immunity.
Donald Trump is probably right about one thing: CV-19 will just "disappear" one day after it runs its course... far before the medical field figures out how to prevent its spread. Unfortunately, this is probably a year or two away.
The net/net is our society, business, sports, etc. will be stuck in a perpetual start/stop redux as new waves and genetic strains of CV-19 circulate seasonally.
We like to think we're masters of our own universe, but that's simply not true: Mother Nature is still in charge here.
