China is where it actually started and one way or another was the cause of the entire thing. That’s a little more apt than saying it’s the presidents virus because he may or may not have done something different

I agree. Neither of them is the President of a country where the spread of the virus is out of control relative to other industrialized countries, so it would be stupid to call it that.

Trump Virus fits, however. I’m sure Hillary didn’t mean anything by it. Just being accurate.

Can't be sure about that since we are testing 2 to 4 times more people than any other country.

It’s not “out of control”. Don’t be ridiculous. We have more testing than any other country. And the death rate has dropped. The only concern is in 3-4 “hot spots” where poor hospital leadership and regional health leadership has caused some issues but even then it’s minimal compared to what was projected

I am? What? How? I’m doing the opposite. I say it’s not pejorative. Or at least it’s no more pejorative than calling it the China Virus.

So you say China Virus is not pejorative. Then why are you triggered by Trump Virus? Are you saying it’s pejorative to call it the Trump Virus but not the China Virus? How do you reconcile that?

The % of positive cases has gone up by more than the % of tests. That’s not happening elsewhere.

Trump owns the disparity in outcomes between the United States and other similarly developed countries. Trump Virus is accurate.

Because the virus has nothing to do with Trump?

There are no non-perjorative reasons to call it that. There are non-perjorative reasons to call it the China virus. That's where it originated.

I thought I’d share something interesting. Unfortunately, this story and, inevitably, more stories like it will result in no college football but I’ve been resigned to no football for a while now.

A friend of mine has a son that’s an incoming freshman football player at Duke. They allowed 110 kids to start workouts a couple weeks ago. The family could drop the kids off but could not stay. Every person that exited their vehicle had to get out one at a time and go through a medical screening. The football players were then taken to their rooms where they are required to stay at all times. The only time they’re allowed to leave is for meals and workouts and when they do leave their room they wear masks at all times, except while actually eating of course. In the gym they’re rotated around and on shifts to allow social distancing while still wearing masks. Coaches also have to wear masks at all times around the kids. They arrived on a Sunday and 2 kids tested positive from the first round of testing. The next round was Friday and 15 kids tested positive. None of them are showing any symptoms at this point but of course they’re being quarantined. Take what you want from this but this virus is going to run its course. Until it does one way or another we are all just along for the ride.

So backtracking in me saying it’s pejorative?

Nothing to do with him? He’s the president of the United States. He’s responsible for the US response. Which has been abysmal.

False. Do you realize that 90% of all patients at local hospitals are being tested and another 50-150 a day are being tested in their CoVid tents? At each site? Some are people being tested multiple times and not all negative tests are reported, let alone actual tests over all. so you don’t know what you are speaking of

Only if negative cases stopped being reported or began being reported at a lower rate. Otherwise, the relative values of the numbers would remain the same.

Do you have evidence that negative cases stopped being reported or began being reported at a lower rate? When?

The response to a virus and the virus itself are two different things. You are trying too hard. I have no idea wtf you are getting at with the word games. Pelosi clearly meant it as an insult. She said as much herself. How about we just take people at their word if they say China virus isn't pejorative? It isn't like real Americans who don't play in the NBA would have any problem admitting to insulting a Communist dictatorship if that's what they were doing.

I disagree. It would be on its way out with competent leadership, like it is almost everywhere else. Trump owns it at this point, so I don’t think it’s pejorative. It’s just being accurate.
