Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

Maybe you use an urban dictionary that says and pandemic kills zillions and can be caught from looking at someone. That's the way it sounds by the way it's thrown around. I would call it the China Virus, Covid 19 or whatever. They didn't refer to SARS as a pandemic everytime it was referred to, they called it SARS. If you can't see that the continued use of the word pandemic right now is simply trying to stir fear, you are as crooked as 99% of the politicians today. Anyway, it's disingenuous to call it "the pandemic" or "this pandemic" because it isn't the ONLY pandemic going on right now. Why would you refer to it as "The Pandemic" when that term can refer to any of a hundred diseases that exist in the world right now. Why not call it the China Flu or the Wuhan Flu after where it originated. That is pretty dang specific.

P.S. the only ignorance here is from you and your ilk thinking that by using that term for this you are meaning anything other than a disease that has escaped a natural boundary. Stop lying and just own up to the fact that you are trying to play to the ignorant fears of others. If you think you are being intelligent by using it, you aren't.
A pandemic is defined by The World Health Organization as being "an epidemic occurring worldwide, or over a very wide area, crossing international boundaries and usually affecting a large number of people". That is why the number of deaths worldwide is highly relevant to its description as a pandemic. This definition comes from the World Health Organization. There isn't a specific number of people who has to be impacted by it, but according to the World Health Organization, it "usually does affect a large number of people". The Coronavirus fits that definition and when describing it in a general term, "pandemic" is appropriate.

WHO is just one of the three letter organizations that I do not respect or trust.

The number of deaths has absolutely nothing to do with the term pandemic. Nothing. Pandemic simple means a disease that has crossed natural boundaries and is no long and Endemic. It really has nothing to do with Epidemic either. I don't know where you got your definition but epidemic means the prevalence of a disease in an area not normally known for the disease. I know it's tough for you to understand. The WHO right now will manipulate meanings to suit their need just like people using scare tactics use pandemic.

"Epidemic" vs. "Pandemic": What Do These Terms Mean?

What’s wrong with calling it the Trump Virus?

Since Pelosi was the one in China town telling everyone to come out a celebrate together in large masses and ignore Trumps xenophobic China travel ban ... it would actually be more fitting as the Pelosi Virus . If we are being honest .

You're not.

"Epidemic" vs. "Pandemic": What Do These Terms Mean?
The number of deaths isn't a factor, but that is not what I said. The number of people affected is a factor with the term "pandemic" and I just explained why. The World Health Organization defines pandemic as being:

PANDEMIC: "an epidemic occurring worldwide, or over a very wide area, crossing international boundaries, and usually affecting a large number of people".

Now, the classical definition doesn't speak to factors such as immunity, virology or severity but it usually does affect a large number of people. This isn't the World Health Organization playing politics either. This is the standing definition of the word... and once again, President Donald Trump has frequently referred to the Coronavirus as being a "pandemic". You are fretting over semantics and you are not even right. You seem very sensitive, on top of being profoundly stubborn and disturbingly ignorant.

But you probably do respect and trust the word of Donald Trump, don't you? Makes perfect sense.

Shows you are quick to assume and accuse. If you have seen my posts you would see that I'm not a Trumpster and have questioned him.
How does not trusting WHO and other three letter organizations that have proved to be questionable make me believe Trump? Am I not allowed to have my opinion if simply different than yours.
You don't make perfect sense.

Well... for one thing, it’s dumb and doesn’t solve anything. It’s no better than when Trump tries to brand somebody with a stupid name.
Surely not. I was told there’s nothing pejorative about calling it the China virus. He owns this country’s inability to control the spread, at this point. Trump Virus seems like an apt monicker. Nothing wrong with that.

So in actuality you agree that referring to this particular virus as THE pandemic is incorrect and it should be referred to with a more specific name because what you just described is 100's of different diseases. Ergo, when you refer to this particular disease you are purposefully using a word that may or may not strike unreasonable fear where it doesn't belong.

Yes, just like the swine flu should be the barry flu, or maybe on the other hand swine flu is good.

The fact you don't see the difference between blaming the virus on a Communist dictatorship and a political opponent really says it all, lol.
