For five-and-a-quarter minutes, deputies beat Arrington and held him to the ground, the video shows.
Arrington's limp body is then picked up and placed in the back of a patrol vehicle.
Arrington was charged with resisting arrest, simple assault on police, criminal impersonation, pedestrian in roadway and four counts of aggravated assault on police. All of the charges were dropped on Tuesday by Pinkston.
Cops should be going after people for fireworks?
People need to make up their minds on the roles of police
Seriously that's what you've got?Dramatic video shows moment Bronx Toddler Struck by Fireworks
This is the frantic moment a 3-year-old boy was struck by a firework that flew through the window of his Bronx apartment early Wednesday — leaving him with burns and stitches.
The boy was watching the fireworks being set off outside his sixth-floor apartment on Anderson Street around 12:15 a.m. Wednesday. His teenage sister was filming the illegal light show when a missile suddenly shot through the open window, striking the boy, who began screaming.
The toddler suffered burns on his left arm and received five stitches to his forearm in the harrowing incident.

Choppy video? Played fine for me. They did place him under arrest for walking on the wrong side of the road. As three officers escorted him to the squad car in cuffs, the video shows the perp appearing to turn to the officer on his left. We can't see what his hands are doing, but it does appear his arms are restrained. After he turned to his left, the beating began. He was in cuffs the entire time and flailing his legs. It looked like one officer was on top of him on the ground the entire time, and the other officers had to beat him strategically with their batons to avoid contacting the officer.WTF am I watching here? Still wondering what all went down because of the choppy nature of the video.
First off, why did they put him in handcuffs and place him under arrest? For violating some traffic/pedestrian law? Next, did he resist? Lastly, what was going on in the last few minutes where he was apparently in the squad car?

He was arrested because you can't cite someone who commits the offense of criminal impersonation when you know they are lying about their true identity, as they obviously won't show to go to court. He looked to be clearly exhibiting some kind of mental/drug issue, as well as was the reason 911 was called on him in the first place. But hard to tell from the video about the grabbing the officer's firearm. If he did it would explain how the other officer panicked and went straight to baton.Thank God this dangerous criminal was taken off the road for walking on the wrong side of the street.
Just another frivolous stop that resulted in police brutality.
This one is very strange. I agree, in hindsight, it wouldn't have been a bad idea to cuff him earlier. On the other hand, he wasn't showing any signs of resistance or hostility at any point, so I can also see why they opted to not cuff him.He was arrested because you can't cite someone who commits the offense of criminal impersonation when you know they are lying about their true identity, as they obviously won't show to go to court. If he grabbed the officer's weapon, the only thing i could see being improved here is a bit of officer training in how they were walking him to the cruiser to begin with. IMO due to his behavior, he should've been cuffed and searched while being detained rather than letting him rummage through his own pockets like that. Too many red flags (and no race is not one of them)
Charges were likely dropped because they found out he is severely mentally ill and the DA decided not to prosecute. This one is very strange. I don't know wtf to make of that movement before they started beating him. Def can't say that he didn't reach for the gun, but he looked pretty well restrained. Couple that with the fact that the charges were dropped, and you have yourself a big bowl of wtf.
What do you mean? They were appropriately using the batons as he was actively kicking them and resisting. They didn't go overboard and they didn't hit spots you aren't supposed to (like cracking his head). It wasn't a "beating" no matter what the media wants to portray it as. If they were actively trying to hurt him, they would have, they were trying to gain control of him.Definitely a possibility.
I can't think of an excuse for the nature of the beating though.

Listen to what he is saying, especially in the back of the patrol car. he clearly is unstable likely due to drugs and mental illness, it is pretty obvious.911 was called because he was acting suspicious for asking directions on how to get out of a neighborhood. What’s suspicious about asking directions?
He was stopped walking down the road and a frivolous law was used to stop him. A frivolous law was used to violate his constitutional rights and add more charges. There’s a reason all these frivolous laws exist and they are not to protect anyone.
Why are you hung up on race? Cops violate the rights of blacks, whites, Hispanics, Asians, republicans, democrats, conservatives, and liberals.
Law enforcement officers only care about protecting the thin blue line.

If i grabbed your gun from it's holster, then you are perfectly able to hit me with a baton and try to control me further. The video shows the officer hit him with the baton quickly (which leads me to believe that the gun grabbing did occur because it was so swift), and as they got him to the ground he continued to resist and try to kick them several times. They didn't use a baton at all until he resisted.Ricky let me hand cuff you and hit you with a baton and video your reaction. I guarantee that you will be “resisting also”
This is the reason that law enforcement needs a complete overhaul. They excuse the inexcusable. It’s all about protecting the thin blue line.
One guy was going his job, the other was putting people in harm's way then assaulted two officers making a lawful arrest, stole a weapon in the commission of a felony, then fired a deadly weapon at an officer. There should have been no changes for murder. There was a rush to judge this officer guilty as evidenced by the mayor's actions and words and charge him before an investigation could be concluded.I think you have a comprehension problem.
The cop will get his day in court the other guy is dead.
