JG is not serviceable. With our schedule this year , we will not win 7 games without capable Qb play. We all should hope that someone in the Qb room can unseat JG. Otherwise we will take a major step back from last years progress.WE aren't worried. JG is more than serviceable, and we have more QB talent on the roster now.
Oh the sub par teams that we beat ya man they really great huh? Kentucky was that only team in the east besides Georgia and Florida that is either average or above average. The rest sucks. Don't bring up South Carolina they clearly played better than Georgia which a team that's not supposed to win does. I can give you two examples. BYU and Georgia State both had victories over us and we should have won.You mean the same QB that lead us to wins over 5 of the last 6 SEC teams we played? I'm not trying to argue that he is a great QB, but to say he is not SEC material is ridiculous.
When you play sub par teams and have NFL talented wr that make you look good it's easy to see why he can achieve that...How in the world did he finish top half in nearly every statistical category in the SEC playing part time and with a broken hand if he's not SEC material? It's hard to believe some of you even know what statistics are or how they are collected or what they even mean.

Would 18-32 for 290 yards with 2 TDs and .8 ints per game be acceptable to the Vol nation? When you show those stats it's a good thing Coach Pruitt played him in the 2nd half mostly. Sounds like to me that our offense needs to produce more in the running game so that we can convert more 1st downs thus providing more pass plays, being able to run the football might even make the play action pass effective again as well thus producing more passes and yards per game. A lot more to it than some want to admit.JG's numbers weren't very good in conf. play.
He averaged 9 out of 16 for 145 yards with 1 TD and 0.4 ints. per game.
Exactly. With Maurer in it seemed the playbook opened up simply because Maurer doesn't hold onto the ball forever. Obviously he's a freshman and is going to make many mistakes as we have seen, but you'd expect the opposite; Our playbook opening up with our redshirt junior qb rather than with our freshman qb. Until JG shows Chaney a good reason to start opening up the playbook then we're gonna see some incredibly conservative play calling.I’m assuming by “he” you mean Maurer over JG? Or JG over Maurer? Idk because I’ve never looked tbh.
My point is simply that Chaney’s play calling with Maurer was much more aggressive and pass heavy as opposed to with JG the play calling was much more grounded. We seen that example all season long. Maurer was unprepared to play vs UF but Chaney still called a pass on 13 plays in only 3 drives for him. It was a balanced attack vs UGA as well as MSU. When JG came in the play calling changed from an aggressive air attack to ground and pound. Vs UK Maurer basically only plays a quarter and 21 pass plays were called to JGs 10 or so in a half. No need to go through all the games but Chaney obviously felt differently about each of them.
That’s why I defend Maurer the way I do. Yes he made mistakes. He was a freshman. He will make mistakes as a senior as well. All qbs do. However Chaney seems to think highly of Maurer to call plays like that for a freshman that they invested very little time with. That tells me he knows his tendencies but trusted his abilities. Once Maurer learns the offense well enough to make better decisions he’s going to be the most dangerous of all of our qbs to opposing defenses. I find it EXTREMELY premature to anoint HB or anyone else over him as the next starter for that reason alone.Exactly. yet in pruitt's 2nd year.....bowl victory.....winning season.....recruiting thru the roof......oh my, things looking on the up and up on RockyTop!With a QB who has fatal flaws and is not a "difference maker" for the good... duh.
then u must have not been at the game. i was and we lose if maurer stays in at qb. he literally...outside one or 2 throws.....threw the ball all over kroger field to every and anything but tn wrs. This is why I’m not sold that Pruitt made the right decision by pulling Maurer vs UK. We only have JG for one more year and Maurer showed a lot of things that haven’t been present in the recent past. He showed fire, fearlessness, leadership and the TEAM responded to him. Had Pruitt stuck with him we MAY not be so worried about the position right now.
You do realize that you actually get a better “view” from the tv at home right? They have this thing called angles and replay that you don’t get AT the game. In fact depending on where your seat was you were anywhere from 50-200 yards away. Which would indicate that you probably watch the Jumbotron rather than the field. In that case you watched exactly what I did. Your personal hate for the kid doesn’t change what actually happened as the game went on. You would be correct if we were only talking about his first drive. Afterwards..... you’re lying.then u must have not been at the game. i was and we lose if maurer stays in at qb. he literally...outside one or 2 throws.....threw the ball all over kroger field to every and anything but tn wrs.
JG averages 158 yards per game and 0.9 TD's. Not sure what parallel universe you are getting your numbers from but I bet that JG looks good.Would 18-32 for 290 yards with 2 TDs and .8 ints per game be acceptable to the Vol nation?
