George Floyd Protest/Riots

I don't agree with a lot of what our government does, but posts like this make me wonder how Americans would feel in a truly oppressive system?

We pass laws that deny basic freedoms and then lock up hundreds of thousands of Americans for violating these BS laws. You may not feel oppressed, but a huge number of Americans rightfully do.

It's not a competition to see how we stack up against other countries. It's just about being our best. Oh, and btw, we're dead last in the world in prison population, so...

I actually agree that our government has engaged in overreaching, but what basic right have you been denied lately?

You don’t want to go that route . Do you know how many black women spend hundreds of dollars straightening their hair , and for blonde / red wigs and extensions around here ? That to my knowledge isn’t a sign of anything but personal preference. Unless you want to educate me .
It goes a lot deeper than just person preference...

First of all, you're confusing false dilemma with law of excluded middle. Second of all you've still given me no reasonable alternative.

First:

Summary

Fallacy Name:
False Dilemma

Alternative Names:
Excluded Middle

False Dichotomy
Bifurcation

Second is an appeal to personal incredulity.

Part of the reason the excluded middle is a fallacy is that you aren't smart enough to conceive of every possible/conceivable option. I don't need to come up with the alternative to point out the fallacy/false dilemma.

Erm. The fact that I heard of one particular incident on TV because it was literally left out of history books doesn't say s***. I've actually studied quite a bit. On the ground for months at a time in Colonial Williamsburg, all over Europe, and even Turkey. But cool keep being a d*** about it
not sure how old you are. but I was taught about it every year. but it was generally lumped into a week of classes at the end of the year where the 50s, 60, 70s were blitzed thru.

Fox News publishes digitally altered and misleading images of Seattle demonstrations

Fox News published digitally altered and misleading images on its website's homepage Friday that made a demonstration in Seattle, in which a group of largely peaceful Black Lives Matter protesters have occupied six city blocks, appear violent and dangerous.

The deceitful tactic was called out by The Seattle Times. The local newspaper reported that when it asked Fox News about the images, the network removed them.

Fox News' depiction of the demonstration mirrors much of right-wing media's attempt to portray it as menacing. Protesters have declared a small slice of Seattle an "autonomous zone" after clashes with authorities led police to evacuate a precinct. While there have been some sightings of armed individuals, the area has remained largely peaceful with people gathering for food, speeches, and movie screenings.

Among the photos that Fox News published on its homepage was one that showed a protester running past a burning vehicle and building with the headline "CRAZY TOWN" blaring across the website. The image, which accompanied a story about the situation in Seattle, was in fact taken from the unrest last month in Minnesota.

In other photos that showed the scene in Seattle, Fox News digitally added an image of a man armed with an assault rifle.

Ya they retracted it after it was pointed out and apologized.

Well considering Trump just rescheduled his rally, I guess he couldn't come up with a reasonable alternative easier so I'm gonna chalk this one in the W column
