Is the argument that someone can't use the technical, historical definition of a word, and we have to immediately infer racism?

Disbarring the original meaning of a Sanskrit word is cultural appropriation.

The starting definition applies today, and to the current circumstances. So no, it hasnt freaking changed. You are assigning guilt and a racial (im)morality to a word that is by definition generic.

The statues I am referencing are the 54th Mass. That was destroyed because they fought in the civil war. Because the numbnuts destroying stuff couldnt be bothered to find out it was an all black regiment that fought for the north. But you know they are racist so the monument had to be destroyed.

Point is ignoring the facts and assigning false attributes to subjects is maybe even more regressive than if it was actually negative. Why fight for your freedom if idiots are just going to assume your race anyway? Why use correct or "correct" words if people are just going to condemn it anyway.

If you want real meaningful change you have to start with the truth. And when it comes to these particular histories it's pretty easy to tell. As it is you are assigning guilt and wrong where there is none. That alienates people and weakens your message. It says you dont want to have a real conversation, you want to have your pre determined conversation where everyone else is already wrong.

Use all the technical definitions you want, just don’t try to paint the entire outside world as the contrarian when you are.

Calling negative things “gay” isn’t socially acceptable anymore, and no, “I meant ‘happy!’” is not a reasonable defense

Just read an article on George Floyd's funeral. According to Rep. Al Green. Floyd's only crime was being born black. How does that kind of inflammatory and untrue statement help? Floyd did not deserve what happened to him, but he was not just some poor black man chosen at random for the color of his skin. He had the misfortune of ****** cops responding to his alleged crime, but he wasn't singled out for being black. That's stupid, ignorant, and divisive, but Al Green won't be shouted down like Drew Brees was.

And in this time where people are searching people's pasts to tear them down for anything that might even look racist, why does Joe Biden get a pass? Why do Democrats get a pass? Last I looked, Northam was still governor. Why is the outrage so selective?

What happened to Floyd was tragic. People using his death to manipulate is tragic as well. Be outraged at what happened, but don't be sheep.

I'm not trying to paint anything as anything. I'm asking why one would disbar the intent of using the original, generic definition, and we're being told to assume racism. I think the world is a better place if we try to give one another the benefit of the doubt.

You seem very prone to argue from emotion, assumed motives and inferred racism, as opposed to facts. (Your examples of "white privilege" as reference mat'l.)

A small part of your point, but I wouldn’t necessarily say Democrats are getting a pass. People who actually care about racial justice are getting fed up with white Democrats who post black squares and do nothing else; who finally NOW say black lives matter, several deaths after it was introduced; who wear kente cloth and pander in embarrassing ways while, again, not actually really giving a ****

I've been saying this over and over. The typical response is luther and his degrees and continuums. We have so many bad apples on both sides who keep getting elected over and over. If we're going to demand change, that certainly seems the place to start. Elect better leaders. Stop reelecting the same people who have done nothing. We have to find better candidates so we're not choosing "the lesser of two evils".

And honestly, I'm not sure how people cannot or will not see that partisan politics may very well be the biggest divide in this nation, bigger even than the racial divide. We have people telling black people they're not black based on their politics. Their freakin' politics. How is that not met with outrage and derision? Republican, Democrat, neither side is really working for America. They are working for themselves. And people sit back and take sides. And when these calls for change come, people sit back and take sides. Everything is people taking sides. Taking sides does not add up to coming together. It does not lead to unity. If we don't come together, ultimately we fall apart.

Have you considered that it's systemic? That the system is so corrupt that the only way someone can make it to the level of national tickets is if they've been vetted as corrupt enough to be trusted with the position?
