The main idea of that argument was that the protest wasn’t violent. The styrofoam cup was cited as a demonstrative, it was not a statement of the sum total of everything that happened.

My perspective is obviously limited because I wasn’t there and most of the videos I’ve seen were short clips. However, one video, posted here, showed 28.5 minutes prior to the altercation. I think that video gives a pretty solid basis for judging the protest as a whole and whether it posed a threat to life or property. If it were a violent protest, I would have expected to see indications of that in a video of that duration shot from that angle.

As a contrasting example: I don’t need to scrutinize footage of the riots and looting in MN, NY, ATL, or DC to try to pick out unlawful actions of individuals and ascribe them to the entire event in order to classify the thing as violent. You watch the video and everybody is smashing and looting and few if any are trying to stop it.

Why is defunding the police forces just now coming up in all these cities? So the local govt's. cut 10s or 100s of Millions from the budget....where is that money going to go? HMMMM!

Another example of the Dems doing a "Look over here!" as an example of helping the black and poor. Sad.
