It is related to some degree. Prejudice is human nature. When you deal with the worst of humanity on a daily basis it tends to skew your view on the people you police right or wrong. We need to equip and demand our officers do better no doubt. But to pretend that isn't part of the problem would be best described myopic.

If you think the propensity for young black men in poor neighborhoods to both carry and use a firearm in acts of violence has nothing at all to do with the number of young black men killed by police, I don't know what to say to that.

Again, 9 unarmed black men killed in 2019. 36 all races.

African American citizens need to take charge in their own communities. Self police. Expose illegal activity which has plagued urban areas.

I can’t begin to explain the millions of dollars that go into our inner cities, which are donated by those in white suburbia. But, if the people in those communities don’t want change then you can’t change. This is so much deeper than one man being killed. Inner city culture fostered the lawlessness that lead to the deaths of Shannon Christian and Christopher Newsome. It’s the thug life mentality that killed Jadaivion Dobson. What uprising happened to address those things? Made some t-shirts? Big friggin deal.

It took many years of well intended policies with horrible consequences to get to this point. It won't be fixed overnight. But until those communities self determine to make it better, with outside help, it will never get change. Police and those communities have to come together and find some common ground. They must overlook outlier events to work towards a common good, meaning the first time some event happens to police or the community they don't give up, they keep working to make it better.
