George Floyd Protest/Riots

I really wish he wouldn't do that. It looks too political. There also shouldn't be any halos placed around the head of George Floyd. He had passed a counterfeit bill and deserved to be arrested. If the police who responded to the scene had done their jobs properly, Floyd would be facing charges right now. He wasn't just some innocent bystander on the street being harassed.
The fact that this has blown up into a political back and forth takes away from what should have been an honest conversation on racism and policing in this country.

The news is pretty much impossible to watch right now. Of course the liberal stuff is crazy but I'm flipping around at lunch today and I come across a panel discussion on Fox. One person (Marie Harf) compared (a report of) a protester spitting at a police officer in Lansing to the burning, looting and sometimes shooting that's going on right now and no one called her on it. Has the entire news business been completely dumbed down or what? I tried watching some sports talk on Fox (Colin Cowherd) and all of his guests and the host, are giving similar dumb analogies. Colin's guest (Nick Wright) said if you killed a good guy and in protest someone bled on your nice carpet causing it to be replaced, why would anyone talk about the carpet???

OK, I'll never get that lunch hour back again and yeah, I'm now dumber for having watched it. But is that where we are with this story now? Is there nothing better to do in America today?
Nick Wright needs to STFU. I’m so tired of this justification process that’s going on. Even all over my Facebook feed it’s a whole bunch of people preaching about not being sanctimonious, yet they wrote 4 paragraphs telling me what I can do to better myself while being apologists for these rioters . It’s reached the point that is has become trendy and it’s losing its purpose. Nothing is being accomplished anymore other than people taking from away from the initial purpose of the protest.

Apparently if you post on Facebook today anything other than a black box image you’re supporting the racists. Or so one of my friends told me today when he put the black image on his Facebook page.

I just laughed.

And thus you answered you're question of why neither side can run the country worth a damn
Again, that was a facetious comment about this idea of some secret cabal planning and funding all of these "protests". Neither side can run the country well because they're incompetent and only care about being in power.

yep a friend of mine made an all lives matter post, and had to take it down within 15 minutes after being attacked for it

The fact that this has blown up into a political back and forth takes away from what should have been an honest conversation on racism and policing in this country.

There is no honest conversation on racism.

The term itself, "RACISM", carries a very specific meaning in the US. If you understand that specific meaning, then you should understand the conversation begins dishonestly.

It would appear that you do not yet have your head wrapped around the definition of fascism.
Facist- authoritarian ultranationalism characterized by dictatorial power, forcible suppression of opposition, as well as strong regimentation of society.

This fits them exactly. How do they treat people that oppose their views? Even those who hold US Flags? What about the chants....No border, no wall, no USA at all. Just church potluck casserole eating do-gooders....according to the left. Then again, the left has always has always used those tactics so that point is not debatable anymore and is a fact.

Better definition and you lose immediately:

Fascism (/ˈfæʃɪzəm/) is a form of far-right, authoritarian ultra-nationalism characterized by dictatorial power, forcible suppression of opposition, as well as strong regimentation of society and of the economy which came to prominence in early 20th-century Europe.

New York Times changes its front page after being ripped for being too fair to Trump in coverage of threat to use the military in U.S. cities

The New York Times on Monday night changed its front page headline after the first edition was derided as 'possibly one of the worst headlines ever written'.

With America reeling from six nights of protest in response to the killing of George Floyd, and with Donald Trump having taken to the Rose Garden on Monday night to announce he would send in the military to U.S. cities if rioting continued, the editors were under pressure to capture the moment.

The paper chose to focus on Trump's words, with the headline: 'As the chaos spreads, Trump vows to "end it now"'.

The New York Times was strongly criticized on Monday night for the headline in its paper

Jon Lovett, a former Obama speechwriter turned podcaster, said the headline was insulting

The online backlash was swift, with commentators noting that it echoed Trump's narrative that the protests were all 'chaos', and minimized the legitimacy of the demonstrations.

'This is a terrible headline,' wrote Neera Tanden, president of the Center for American Progress.

'The Times is erasing the reason for the protest. This is exactly what Trump wants. To erase the treatment of Black Americans as the rationale for opposition. Shame on The New York Times.'

Ben Rhodes, a former Obama adviser, said: 'If the New York Times thinks this accurately describes what happened today, I have no idea what country they've been living in - they should just let Trump write their headlines.'

Leading Democrats reacted with shock and anger at the headline.

'You’ve got to be kidding me,' tweeted Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, congresswoman for New York.

Even several members of the media joined the chorus of complaint.

'Possibly one of the worst headlines ever written, and I used to write headlines for a living,' said Michael Dresser, former Baltimore Sun correspondent.

'NYT editor Dean Bacquet is a disgrace to journalism and ought to be fired.

The paper later changed its headline to read: 'Trump threatens to send troops into states'.
