There's talk around town that the draft may go better than we think and the staff thinks this will pick up momentum on the trail

Meh.

I hope all our guys get drafted and I even hope guys like Byrd get camp invites and make rosters or practice squads.

But i sincerely doubt even if everyone gets drafted rounds 3-7 that it’s gonna sway any kids on the fence.

Is Rhitzie gonna say “Man, better go to UT because Calloway got drafted in the sixth round vs the 7th!”

Like I said, I’ll be keeping tabs on the draft and I’ll be psyched when our Vols get taken, but I just don’t think it helps recruiting. All kids care about is round 1-2. That’s where the flash is and the typical walking up to the stage moment etc.

Here’s an interesting thought....

All programs have some back door recruit support staff (ahem)

Depending on where their finances are tied up during this pandemic, loss of income, and even the order (and failure or success) of opening up states... this is going to have an impact on recruiting we will never know about outside of the NSD results.

For example, let’s just say 75% of Florida’s money guys are instate, and the pandemic was drawn out there longer than other places, there would be loss of resources to share with recruits but if Georgia and Tennessee open up first, and their money guys are theoretically within those borders, they would have an advantage
I'm convinced by your recruiting science. Lockdown Georgia and Florida indefinitely!!

It's easy to see how when you have folks packed on subways and buses, or 200+ people all working/living in one building and using the same elevators. In most towns in TN the only buildings that actually have elevators are the hospitals.

Courthouses, federal buildings, office buildings, corporate offices, financial buildings...

Sure, most people in McNairy County or Fentress County won’t be affected. Everyone lives in their own bubble, but there is a lot of business done in areas across this state where a bunch of people congregate and/or share elevators.

They have to start back, but I don’t believe it will be “normal” for a while.

No wonder that recruiting is so meh right now. You would know that if something is going to have a bad effect on some schools recruiting..it will effect us the worst.
I suggest a lot of you guys who are claiming our recruiting is "meh" right now go look at the current 247 and Rivals team rankings. One thing is very obvious. Very few teams currently in the top ten of both sites will be in those positions on signing day. And I would bet you all that out of our current 10 verbals, many of them will be an afterthought later in the year.

meh. this isn't hte NBA draft.....you get drafted, that's good, and it's a selling point for the staff for prospects that do have designs on getting to the NFL....this staff has certainly sold it's past accomplishments at other programs for getting kids to the NFL....that htey can see tangible proof of that happening here, helps the pitch. and if nothing else, it at least puts a dent in the negative recruiting done when other programs talk about our recent history in the NFL draft........

aside from the most elite of HS prospects, i would venture to say that overwhelming, vast, majority of HS prospects simply believe the NFL is a realistic goal.....how they get there? i doubt most could care less....

but they do like the idea of going to programs that have a track record of it's players getting there. by hook or by crook. anything that improves the odds of getting there, they're for it. so yeah, it helps us, even if all it does is that it stops hurting us.

Gov Cuomo said this morning as many as 2.7 mil New Yorkers have already had the 'rona based on data gathered so far for antibody testing. Stated 13% already had the antibodies.
Look for the mortality rate to start dropping in a week or two. Get this country back open! And think about all the companies across the country who have continued working full steam ahead and never stopped due to the products they produce from foods to medical equipment etc. In most cases, they are running 3 shifts and have been adding workers to pump out their goods but we have seen or heard very few outbreaks. Let's go!
