To Protect and to Serve II

Me and another guy got detained by cops for like an hour because my buddy brought an orange toy gun into a school dance. I get it, but keep in mind this is before Columbine. We didn't know better and all we needed was a short talk, but again, it was unnecessarily physical and they said the stupidest **** to scare us, like that we were gonna get charged with attempted murder
So a school resource officer yelled at you for bringing a fake gun into a school dance?

It was actually the same cop that rolled his car and died. He slammed my friend. They didn't touch me but we were both harassed. The cops held two minors for an hour and did not tell our parents. We told our parents. Do the fkn math on that one

Where was this at?

I'm saying you're trash based on all your comments and attitudes about police work. Please retire
I said I call out officers who actually are in the wrong. Seems that your attitude on life and your friends acting like jackasses seem to be the cause of most of your own problems 🤷‍♀️
what area did you live in? Sounds rural

Man, the problem is that you say it is only 1% or a few randomly sprinkled here and there.

Until we close that gap between you opinion and the general public's opinion, then there can't be an honest discourse or relationship between the two of us.

Could the truth lie somewhere in the middle? Sure? But to say 1% is just ridiculous. That is a non-starter.

Ok I’ll say 1% of the departments that I’ve personally worked with and seen in person. I of course can’t speak for the hundreds of thousands of law enforcement throughout the entire country

This past Saturday, we lost a dispatcher in a horrific vehicle accident. She was on her way home after her 12-hour shift. I got called out to help cover calls, as re-routing traffic took more people than we had available. I never went to the scene; I knew better.

I knew her, and I know her Dad, who is a DNR Ranger. He and I sort of grew up together starting back in 2000 with me as a new Deputy, and him as a new Ranger. We worked together a lot, and he and I were and remain good friends. Broke my heart to see him lose his daughter.

There are a lot of "Crooked / Stupid / Overzealous Cop" posts in this thread, and I'm okay with that. Where corruption exists, it should be exposed, rooted up, and burned...just like any other invasive weed. This is not really the "To Protect and Serve" thread, it's the "Those Who Fail to Protect and Serve" thread, and I'm okay with that as well, for the most part.

But here's a headline you didn't see this past weekend: "Crusty Old Part-time Deputy Drives Around Answering Calls for Six Hours With Tears in His Eyes".

Saturday sucked.
