Carolina Panthers

We will have a decent offense, but a defense that couldn't stop a XFL team.
We need to trade back in the first round, if at all possible, and then load up on defensive guys.

I usually hate the idea of paying a RB like this, but he is so much more to our offense than just a RB. Only one other player in history has more receptions in their first three years. And that’s Michael Thomas. This isn’t like when we overpaid DeAngelo Williams.

That’s how I think about it. He’s prime LT or Faulk. He could be used exclusively as a WR and still be effective, but he’s also too good at RB to not be utilized all over the field.

I don't think anyone will regret locking McCaffrey into a 4 year deal. He's a great back. If its too much money then its only a little too much. Only thing though, there might not be a 2020 season. But that will hurt every team so Carolina should weather that as well as anyone.

The McCaffrey deal will hopefully help get Alvin Kamara a better deal with the Saints

I was hoping for Simmons at 7, but Brown was the smart choice. Derrick Brown will allow Short, Burns, and even Shaq to show out. Remember how much better Short was when he had Star beside him?
Now, let's go get another defensive stud tonight. Lots of good talent available.
Kristian Fulton, AJ Epenesa, Xavier McKinney, Antoine Winfield Jr., Yetur Gross-Matos, Zack Baun, Jaylon Johnson, Grant Delpit. Grab one of these dudes in the 2nd and I'm happy!
I've got a feeling they'll go Denzel Mims or Cushenberry, though.

The only one that’s iffy is the the kid from WV hopefully he has learned from his mistakes and takes advantage of another opportunity
I think he was one of the steals of the day. Did you read his letter? I cringed while reading what he did wrong because I did almost exactly the same thing as a sophomore at UT when my grandmother was dying. Talent-wise, he could have been a second rounder.
I like the Pride pick because he's so lightning fast. Hopefully his ball-awareness is something that can be coached up.
Even the Roy pick in the sixth round is one that I dig. I think I saw that he had more TFL than any other DT in 2019. Plus, he will be another person on the team to help instill Rhule's family atmosphere.
The only thing I was hoping for was another OG late in the draft. We picked up Bowen from Ohio State in UDFA, so I'm pleased. He has 2nd or 3rd round talent, just with some past injury concerns. If he's healthy, he's another steal.

I liked our draft and if these youngsters can play well enough for us to have just an average defense, we might be able to make a little noise. We’re going to score points, just need to be able to make some stops.

Over all we had a good draft. I can honestly say we addressed the elephant in the room and didn’t pick blindly. I would have liked to see them draft more OL but hopefully they’ll surprise me

The Panthers had a great draft but I still can't see them winning more than 5 games in 2020.
