I've heard of using apps to track locations in the context of infection, but I think contact tracing is generally more about finding out who an infected person has come into contact with in the last 1-2 weeks and telling them to self-isolate and monitor their condition for two weeks. I know it's something that is currently happening, but it gets much more difficult to near impossible with widespread infection.

Tracking apps are only part of the equation, and I have my own doubts about their effectiveness.

This whole thing has put our society into a weird perspective. It's all so bizarre while being mostly normal.

The writers of this series have jumped the shark, and this season is proof.

To be clear, that wasn't a response to you. It was talking about the article.

I've seen this notion that the people who are dying would have died "soon" anyway. It's not necessarily untrue for many cases, but it sure isn't true for all cases. If you're talking about a terminally ill cancer patient, that's one thing. But some of these folks are pretty young and without known preexisting conditions.

It just feels weird to even talk in that context. Like, a few months for cancer patient isn't a big deal.

I would think he would be one you would trust since he loves numbers too. And the explanations related to those models use the word "could", not "would". Again, not my words. "Could", meaning possibility, maybe even probability. But not "would", meaning fact.

The only thing I fear is that people like yourself won't take it seriously, or will constantly undermine the seriousness of it so that others don't take it seriously. If you haven't noticed, there are still those on this forum who think this is solely a political ploy to damage the president. I'm just trying to reinforce the reality that your actions can kill others. Since my refusal to use weasel words offends you, please block me.

Off topic but most of the thread is so quick question: Does anyone else find it odd, in the middle of a global pandemic we are sending two war ships off the coast of Venezuela disguised as a determent for drug smuggling? I normally don't wear a tinfoil hat but something about this doesn't pass the sniff test IMO.

I am of the belief the defense dept got some intel we probably won't hear re: some smuggling plans by some cartel via boats. Or maybe a hoard of illegals trying to head our way via boat. Who really knows. May be just a show of force by the military to deter any thoughts of threatening us in any way right now by countries thinking we may be vulnerable during this pandemic.

It isn’t a political ploy to damage the President but it sure is heck being used for political purposes and makes me sick. Work together for the good of all Americans.

The govt can do anything they want right now. They'v mentioned corona on the news outlets literally billions of times in the last 2 months.

This admin (and the deep state trump claims to not work with or support) have been escalating things with Venezuela for about a year and a half. They’ve got lots of oil and where there’s oil there’s blood to be spilt.

Saw this last night! Wondering if the U.S. Military is about to fight Venezuela or drug cartels? They classified Maduro as being in a cartel.
