Making rules/laws doesn't stop people from acting stupid. There two things that stop people from acting stupid: 1) the desire to do better; and 2)fear of the consequences of acting stupid. We consistently discourage the first because of the implicit judging that goes along with admitting any of us actually need to do better and we do everything in our power to eliminate the second because those consequences are mean-spirited or hateful. The result is millions of people acting stupid, thinking they should be allowed to do so and expecting to collect a check from someone else.

Mandates aren't going to fix that kind of stupid any more than the suggestions did. The idiots ignore the rules until they get sick and thenblame someone else for not stopping them from ignoring the rules. This is a special sick and twisted version of the twilight zone we're living in at the moment. Unfortunately no one has the stomach any more for letting people suffer the consequences of their actions and allowing society to learn from what they observe.
ok, i agree...the mandate, in and of itself, doesn't change human nature...... that's still not a reason to not have the mandate in place.

and as we've seen in a few outlier cases, there has been a consequence or two dolled out to those that blatently, purposefully, willfully act in direct contradicton to the mandate and it's purpose..... so if nothing else, it affords the opportunity to enforce, where the suggestion doesn't.

Stanley Morgan was better than any of the above WR. He played in a conservative ground control O at UT but check his NFL stats (4 time pro bowler) with over 10K receiving yards and this before the pass happy O of the 2000's. Not sure why he is overlooked in so many lists
Jamal Lewis over frequent fumble Foster.
Delong as a D line so remove him and Munoz and replace with Chip Kell (G) and Aaron Sears (T). He was a budding star until his tradegy.
Steve Kiner replaces Mayo. Booby Majors was the equal to Deon Grant (at least in college).
don't know how, but i forgot about Stanley Morgan....good call.

COVID projections
Large error bars the further you go out, but they continually refine it as new data comes out. The dropdown menu at the top allows you to look at individual states.

Expecting 0 hospital cases in the U.S. by July 23rd seems immensely rosy. I'd take it, but I don't know if I believe it.

Of course, it also projects 83K deaths in the U.S. so definitely not good either.

I agree with you, I just don't agree with your almost joyful sounding tirade about it.

McGill, this the new link for my company's face shields, face hats and masks.

If you want a hat with a face shield just call me at 800.889.6368 ext. 206 on Thursday, give me your address and I'll send you one.

Appreciate you taking care of the elderly. Also, thanks to @SmokinBob for calling today.

Consistency in freedoms are key. Inconsistency means you dont have the freedom. If this goes without fight, they'll do it again for any reason.

I don't like some of these projections I'm seeing for the virus. Supposedly fall will be prime season for it and that'll mean no football season.

Hope I'm wrong.

Schools were closed a while ago.
I really don't think it matters. I don't believe that is used in there calculations. I looked at it the other day and it was very promising, all the resources were more than adequate. Looked today and the numbers are much different. I think it is looking at trends. Our cases and deaths jumped bigtime today.

edit: we had ten new deaths today and over 400 new cases reported today.

Seems like it may not be that useful. It claims that we have zero distancing efforts in Tennessee, so their assumptions are wrong.
Says we aren’t distancing, kids are still in school, and we have no shelter in place mandates. Also, these models are the worst case scenarios. They have better case scenarios but won’t share those. Fear drives clicks and clicks equals $

If that’s your go to example? Guess we could never find an example of insane monsters dispensing poison Kool-Aid to the masses because the government was intruding in their business?

Did you just compare jim Jones with hitler who killed million of Jews? Jones was disgusting but six million deaths doesn’t compute with me.

Looking at that graph it's saying ~5000 total deaths in Tennessee; ~8400 if we did nothing.

It wasn’t a contest of numbers. Over a 1000 innocent lives lost due to one man’s insanity doesn’t COMPUTE with me. One used the government he created, one used the fear of another government. All evil. Equally irrelevant to the original subject.
