Also, do you know how many rounds semi automatic weapons can put out per minute. In some ways, they are more dangerous than full auto because you can aim and be much more selective with your targets.

With a 30-rd clip it depends on how fast you can wiggle your finger and change clips in a minute. I don't understand your argument. A fully automatic weapon in the hands of a civilian would be much more dangerous because you can't be as selective.

If you think that saying the pledge the allegiance to your country is indoctrination that is certainly your right, but to say that children at an early school age being taught the pledge of allegiance is somehow indoctrinating them, and is not liberty, to me seems an absurd notion. Indoctrination is typically done when there is only a centralized, authoritarian government where there is no challenge to the authority. It is pretty much impossible to do in a multi-party system, so your concern for the liberties of school age children seems rather hyperbolic. In a democracy there are few things that bind us together as a nation. Pride in your country should always be one thing that binds us, IMO.
There is one line in the pledge that is Contra indicative. One nation, indivisible with liberty and justice for all.

The military has been screwing around in Afghanistan looking for 400 something dude for two decades. People could fight back. But the govt would have to work really hard to get the political capital to do it.
Agree about political capital. If the armed forces did not rebel, they would take almost all of them in very short order.

I guess it depends. Not worth the argument but I respect your opinion.

I agree but am monitoring closely.
I think the difference in this epidemic is not the mortality percentage of those infected, it probably isn't any worse than the other big bad bugs, but it is in the sheer number of the infected...this crap is so highly contagious to us that it causes a massive deluge quickly, thus it has massively higher TOTALS of death and serious illness.

It Isn’t significantly wrong.
I completely disagree. 46% of the people on that Diamond Princess were completely asymptomatic. That tells me that huge numbers of people are out walking around spreading it, and never even know they are sick...you are a numbers guy..surely you can see the logic in that?

It doesn't lessen the danger of this virus to accept that. This virus is way more dangerous than anything else out there simply because of how outrageously contagious this thing is. It will end up being 15-20 times more contagious than the flu imo. We have zero immunity and it is insane how little contact with this it takes to infect you....that is the true danger, and it is not to be taken lightly.

Well it seems like all the people who were saying the pandemic was a media hysteria event stirred up to sell newspapers have dropped that line of attack (what happened to all the people saying the numbers are made up and this isn't any more serious than the regular flu) and now they are jumping on individual governors not necessarily because of they way don't like the way they've responded, just because you don't like the party they represent. Face it, you guys haven't wanted to deal with reality since the beginning of this crisis. You just want to hate.

I just don't understand that. Thanks to my time in the military I was forced to interact with people of all ethnicities, all religions and all political affiliations. Except in the most extreme cases, I found we all loved America. We may have had different beliefs about how the government should be run and what policies should be advanced, but we loved the country. It made me love America even more because we could legitimately disagree on a number of issues but still come together on the big one.

Life is complex. Maybe that's it, maybe too many people feel overwhelmed and want simplicity or at least simple answers. Maybe they hate change (I'm sorry but the only constant is change.)

No one person or party has all the answers. I make sure every day I read through the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times. I want to know what the alternatives are. I see things in both papers that I agree with and disagree with. If you only listen to or read those stories you agree with, then you're leading a narrow uninformed life.

What I know is we are all different in a complex world. I know I attend church but I don't want prayer in the schools (tell me whose prayers we're going to use). I can get tears in my eyes looking at an American flag in a strong wind, but I don't believe you should be forced to say the Pledge of Allegiance. I own several guns, probably way more than average but I don't have a problem with background checks or limitations on assault weapons. But I don't hate or denigrate anyone who disagrees with me on those things.

Some of you guys just spew hate at anyone that disagrees with you. Now I admit I have a hard time with people who ignore reality and make up their own facts or who deny legitimate science, but I'm willing to engage and try to state where I'm getting my facts from. Unfortunately there are people who just say that if you disagree with me you're evil.

Where does that get us as a country? There's no doubt that much of this is conflict stirred up by our adversaries in the world. With the rise in the internet there are false flag operations that support and advance positions designed to divide and inflame. Do you really not think an old KGB officer like Putin isn't doing that? But too many of us are willing to take those positions and run with them and say vile and divisive things about a fellow American just because she wants to pay teachers more or he wants to stop abortion, or vice versa.

I love these forums because of the passion of Vol fans for the Big Orange. But the posters that just want to hate and use the language of hate, I can do without you.
Little more to bad feelings some have toward the jackasses of the world than that. There are many that I despise on both sides for very good reasons..

Beautiful day. Went to Target this morning... Wasn't too bad, not crowded and seemed everyone was doing the social distance thing pretty well.

Positive... They had Ground beef and ground turkey. And pretty much everything that was on my list.

Negative... Still no chicken, Clorox wipes, sanatizer, or toilet paper.

Got all my yard work done and watched the 2015 UGA game...

Getting ready to fire up the grill and do some pork chops.

Be good people.

If that's what you think I'm saying you're missing the point. What I'm saying is disagree but you don't have to say one side or the other is evil or bad, you engage and discuss.
That is a squishy moral stance...there is a lot of evil and bad on the fringes of both sides. Those are the lunatics ruining this country, and the talking heads make it worse.

Some people I know think they already had it
I know of or am acquainted with quite a few people, who were really sick for a while and had a hard time shaking it back in December and January. Some of those tested negative for flu and strep. Was told it was just some kind of virus...looks like it ended up being Covid-19.

I just hate a wildcat trashing a Volunteer. Gonna jump that azz every time. Nothing serious about it. Oh, but I do hate most politicians regardless. A few are ok but most nationally, not so much especially those who have been in there awhile.
Amazing you don't hear Beshear bashing the situations to the north, west and east of Frankfort isn't it? I wonder why that is?

We don’t know that though. We can only guess. It could be wrong anywhere from a quarter of that amount to a tenth of that amount. As with all of this stuff, the safe hypothesis is somewhere in the middle.

People with mild to moderate symptoms will refuse to get tested or even seek medical advice because of (1) they don’t like going to the doctor anyway, (2) they don’t want to be found positive and have a stigma about them, and/or (3) they pass it off as allergies or a cold. There’s enough of those people out there that it very likely makes a significant difference.
I think that should have to be abundantly obvious to everybody by now...I do not understand how anybody can not see this. The only people getting tested are those already very sick.

The people I know had the exact same thing... I was one of them. I should add that I don't think I had covid 19 because they gave me a mixture of antibacterials and steroids and that helped me

just an opinion. It may should be earlier. Just think with bailouts and spending and unemployment combos, it will make the economy so bad, we will have such big issues that even the most ardent fans won’t care. It’s not just about money but about a way of life. 30 percent unemployment is not sustainable in my opinion. Mortgage Servicing companies are about to go bankrupt if the government doesn’t step in. Lending for government mortgages is in more peril than 2008. Lenders are bleeding with no liquidity. It’s more complicated than people think. Hud can’t expect full payment by the servicing companies when not allowing foreclosures. This is just one part of the economy but a shutdown past May will bring harm like we have not seen. May happen anyway.
I said this weeks ago...A 3-6 month shutdown will nuke us back to the the dark ages of the 30s.

Had a friend like this and was feeling bad and I rode in a car to the Tennessee basketball game, ate together at a restaurant and sat together at TBA and ate there and went home. So, I very well would’ve got it if he had it and no bad symptoms. Did have a cough after that so who knows.

Biggest “what if” Tennessee player for you? A player who was either derailed by injuries, transfer, or removed from the team.

I’m going with Lamarcus Coker. Dude should have set records with his speed and vision, but he must have smoked 2 marajuanas during his career and was kicked off the team
Janzen Jackson.

Such a shame.

Videos of people cheering from high rise apartments in major cities for shift change for healthcare workers brings a tear to my eye
Here’s to you and all the others...

I'm cueing up Tennessee vs. Georgia 2006.

This is a throwback to my days in Malaysia on the cusp of when you could start streaming SOME games each year. I missed a lot of ball between 2000-2007 so I'm going to watch some classics. Pretty sure I know how this one ends. Hoping I'm right :)

Soul Asylum with the CFB intro, lol.

Teenage wasteland playing on the UGA speakers... some things never change.
Queing up date night with the wife on the porch. Promise not to socially distance.

The thing about the cruise ships that’s a giant * is the high percentage of the population that was over 60. Even there, the number of asymptomatic cases is roughly 18%. Another study of children in China (I know, take this one with a grade of slaw but it’s been peer reviewed) put the asymptomatic cases at 56%. So let’s say on average that the number of asymptomatic cases averages out somewhere in the 40% range based on the median age of Americans. Add to that the number of cases that have mild symptoms that never get tested, and I think we have a much larger denominator that puts us easily under the 1.0% fatality rate. I would dare say we will end up with this thing being in the 0.5%-0.7% range in the short term, which is still a significant number, but far less overall. And that number will drop significantly with increased knowledge on treatments.

Color me hopeful about this thing overall. I have trust in our medical professionals, our researchers, and ultimately my peace rests in the Lord my God.
I just read a report yesterday on the Diamond Princess that 46% were asymptomatic..😳 I will never find it now .
