Mike Leach (Texas Tech)

After watching TT tonight I think that is a mute point. Most times he only needs about 1-2 seconds to do much of his quick stuff and that was good for 4-5 yards everytime. When you drop back in coverage he has you for 20 everytime. I don't care how good a defense is or isn't, if you can do what you need in 1-2 seconds there simply is no stopping that offense.

And Bama can have the ball for 40 minutes and get there 21 points when TT has it for the other 20 with 50 points.

Moot point is right. They'll lose in 2 weeks to Oklahoma.

If I were to list the number of active coaches who could go to TT and have them in the top ten at any point in their career it would be a very short list.

If TT was in the SEC they would have a minimum of 2 loses this year. It is easy to look like world beaters when your going up against weak defenses. A full season in the SEC grind and they would be average. Kirk Herbstreet just said on ESPN that Florida would beat TT no problem. The speed of their defense would minimize TT offense and the Gators would win.

I don't think anyone is saying Leach is not a good coach. At least I'm not.

I actually have been very impressed with Leach lately. I still prefer Gruden, Davis, and Kiffin, but I only think one of those guys is really possible.

Even if they do lose to Oklahoma in 2 weeks, Leach coming to Knoxville would be aiken to a Spurrieresqe move at Florida after the ol ball coach left Duke. Given the opportunity to build a really good defense with the recruiting power at UT...combined with 2-3 years to get the right offensive personal I could see his system being very successful for a good 10 year stretch. If nothing else, it would be much more fun to watch then the same old offense we have been subjected to for the last 20 years.

Leach is my second now as well, only behind Gruden. Big 12 or not, it is no mistake they are 9-0 and averaging ridiculous offensive numbers.

So Texas has a weak D????

He has never won 10 games in one season as HBC!

His first 8 wins this seasons, hell most SEC teams would have been 8 and 0. Sure he had a BIG win over Texas so did Memphis over UT. And he beat an overated OSU team tonight. But in 8 years he has not once one 10 games in the Big 12.

His coaching counting this year is 83-37 dont know how that computes to winning %

But I dont want it!

Eastern Washington
Nevada
Southern Methodist
Massachusetts
Kansas State
Nebraska
Texas A&M
Kansas
-------------------
Texas
Oklahoma State

If Fulmer would have been let go last year would you have been a June Jones fan. After all, at this point last year Hawaii was undefeated and putting up ridiculous offensive numbers.

The difference is TT does it year in and year out. Hawaii was a one year wonder last year. Think TT with SEC caliber talent. We would be back to the days where it was nothing for us to lay 50 points on a team like Vanderbilt and probably win over 50% of our games against a team like Florida this year.

I had my skepticism about Meyer's system at Florida, and look at what he has been able to accomplish when he actually gets guys that have legitimate speed and talent. It is the same offense he ran at Utah when he had his one great season there.

The last couple of years UF's offense has been different. Meyer evolves his offense a lot.

Let me make it clear. We could do A LOT worse than Mike Leach. But that doesn't change the fact that I think TT has had a favorable scehdule thus far and I believe they go down big to Oklahoma in 2 weeks.

Well of course he does from week to week and season to season, but it is still based on the spread theory with WR used as RB's and utilizing a mobile QB. The basic offense is still the same.

What the hell does that have to do with anything presented?

Leach HAS coached in the SEC..As OC at Kentucky...His offense was ranked #1 in the conference and #11 nationally...I am getting the feeling his offense would you know, kinda work in the SEC :naughty:

Where have I said it wouldn't work? All I have been trying to say is I don't think it would work with his current team. Thanks.
