Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

That's insane.
My whole goal is to minimize suffering.
Selfish would be voting to keep someone in office who you know is horrendously despicably simply because they help your pocket book a tad more than you think the other candidate would.
He's a horrible despicable person who was doing as well or better than the last few horribly despicable people to hold the office until the world got hit by a pandemic. No one is "suffering" under Trump anymore than they were under Obama. You're okay with a tanking economy simply because it hurts Trump. That's what is insane. You're not minimizing ****.

what's your definition of suffering? Suffering is relative I suppose. Those kids being held in cages are suffering. American citizens being rounded up and jailed because they "may be" an illegal immigrant suffer. Individuals that have been here since infancy, that have green cards and are being sent back to a country they don't know suffers as well. Non white individuals that have been assaulted due to rhetoric suffer. There is a lot of suffering going on in America.....

Of the 959 cases yesterday in TN there are 117 classified as "Out of TN" What does that mean? Knox County's second case was someone who was not in the county. Did they reassign that case to this catchall category? Isn't it a little misleading that 12% of our cases are not within the state, or that there are OOS patients using medical resources that don't show up in the TN reporting.

Kids were being held in cages under Obama. The original pictures that circulated around were from when Obama was President.

Local news reporting 1098 total.

Im sure you have some that are not residents of TN but are here for various reasons that have gotten tested here.

I apologize for the jab about likes. I must have misunderstood your original point. I thought you were claiming the CDC posted data that would support a death rate of 2+% for the flu. They certainly do not. They provide source data used in a calculation based on years of observation for seasonal influenza that settles on their estimated value. At this point, we have nowhere near the data on this new coronavirus to provide anywhere near the confidence in the projection.

As much as we like apples to apples comparisons, one does not yet exist due to the lack of data. Hundreds of millions, if not billions, of flu cases have been tabulated over decades. We have hundreds of thousands of cases of coronavirus that have been observed over months. Those two don't equate. The video posted earlier of Dr. Birx makes that point much more eloquently than I can, and I think that she provides a very optimistic outlook on the re-evaluation of the estimation methods used for coronavirus.

Again, my apologies for misconstruing your original point. The good news is that I'm not one of your employees. Let's be honest, you couldn't afford me.

I do agree with you that it is tough to make an apples to apples comparison because of the vast unknown of this virus. The main comparison I have seen has been CV vs. the flu which I agree with I believe flu is a great baseline to compare to since we have 100+ years of experience and data.

And yes I am kind of tough on my employees especially when it comes to criticism. Currently in our lives, especially in the political landscape, every conversation or argument is highly emotionally driven. When two people disagree one another the conversation tends to be littered with one upping insults of one another. The end result is both sides being disgruntled and nothing is really being accomplished. I refuse to have my work place run like this. What I have found is that if I challenge someone (if they decide to criticize or argue about something with me) to bring data/facts to the conversation they will think about it more. In collecting/analyzing the data it will cause the person to develop their side of the argument more and let the data lead them in their argument vs. emotions. This then creates a more cordial and constructive conversation and we can work through whatever problem the employee had. It's far better than the results you see in our government where all of the adults argue like whiny children then go to their corners.

That is one of the poorest analogy I have ever seen. Get a grip.

No it isnt. Your incessant belief that if we go back to normal it means we care about money more than lives is idiocy. Every time you spend money on yourself on anything other than what is required to sustain your own life, you are stating your wants are more important to you than the needs of others.

We all do it everyday. Oh, except for the past few now that we've entered idiotic world. There is a balance to be struck. And we are foolishly all pushed over to one side all of a sudden. The price for the foolishness will be costly.

were American citizens being rounded up and detained? Were green card holders being rounded up and sent back to countries that they've never been to? Whataboutism is not a defense of a horrible action. Your original post were people are not suffering like they were under President Obama, I gave several examples where people are suffering more. And your response was Obama did 1 of those things while ignoring the rest.

Society seems to be currently deciding otherwise.
For the moment, health and safety trumps economics as far as the general welfare is concerned.
Society hasn't really decided ****. The government has. Therein lies the problem. I'm not sure you understand what "freedom" means.

If you are taking care of yourself, you are better able to help others. If he buys himself a milkshake on his way to feed the homeless or donate his time to at risk youth. Him caring for himself is not selfish. Caring for one self is the least that we can do. It is what we do with our other resources. Money is good, but donating time, gently used clothes, books, and other things are equally if not more important.

They probably get more frustrated than mad. When trying to have a discussion with a fool, frustration usually happens. Which is probably a general reaction people have when talking with you about anything other than cartoons. Judging from your post, you take pride in people getting frustrated with you. Somehow that means that you are "winning". In reality it only shows your lack of knowledge.
You feel better now?

I said people are not suffering under Trump anymore than they did under Obama. I didn't say they were suffering more under Obama. And I don't buy into your "examples". The common misconception is that people are against immigration. No one is against immigration. What people oppose is illegal immigration. Illegal, as in violation of the law.

Weird how I stated...beyond what is required to sustain yourself.

Children's cancer research could have used that milkshake money. Guess he doesnt care.

Use Italy as an example. People decided it was not serious.....Boom! Deaths and infections skyrocket. Maybe government needs to decide for some people, cause some people are not that smart.

Deaths skyrocketed compared to what?

Why were all previous winters acceptable to allow deaths to skyrocket in Itsly, but not this one?

If you need government to think for you, that's great. I don't. I'm prepared to face the consequences of any decisions I make. It's called personal responsibility. More people should practice it rather than looking to place blame.
