Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

Reactionary and, as somebody pointed out earlier, a JIT society. It’s against our nature to stockpile anything. Hell... I don’t even go to the store half the time because I can just hit a button from my couch and have something delivered to my front door in 24 hours.
I read last week that we're not even tooled to make much of what we need to get through this, like masks, latex gloves, meds, etc... We offshored it and would have to retool manufacturing.

True and I’m sure stockpiling masks might not be as effective when you finally need them.

What is it about the term blind trust that you do not understand?
Loeffler is saying that she has no control over what is traded in her portfolio either. That is the way mine is set up. An adviser in Tulsa makes those decisions and I find out about what they buy or sell by email the night after they make the trade.

Sorry, I'm not buying that. Bolton is who he is and isn't going to change for anyone, including Trump.

He was technically responsible for that office. Trump is sitting on Bolton's book, claiming national security concerns. It could be a factor, but maybe not.

But you are right, Bolton is his own guy, and would probably defend the decision regardless.

Congratulations on your new job then!

Been doing it for 3 years but hey, thanks anyway.

It's a go to jab for the morons with little substance on this forum to call me a bartender because apparently there's little else their tiny kinds can muster. On top of that they're *****ing on the middle class they pretend to champion when they do it as though it's less honorable work than digging ditches, or learning trades that often make less money.

Says you. Lol.

For someone who claims to still be working you're spending a lot of time on here pretending to not freak out.
I'm working right now, worked every day. I have nothing to be bitter about, life is good.

I do 75% of my work from my desk so I can always jump on here and get a good laugh at you all

Turns out Trump's lies aren't senseless as we usually presume, but a deliberate effort to stall public panic before his buddies can secure their assets. We are approaching Russia levels of oligarchy. We are now seeing the fruits of this moron's decisions...

An extreme measure, but basically what both China and Italy have done.

The crazy/stupid thing to me is how ill-prepared we are as a nation for this. We can't find surgical masks, much less full protective gear. Yet we just heard from Pence yesterday dancing around the fact that we just don't have them, before making some ham-handed claim that these items are readily available. Total BS.

Hindsight and whatnot, and we may have the bestest and most greatest military, but as far as national security, we might as well be pre-Colombian America.

Now you are getting it . We sold our souls to China and the globalist markets thinking we would never have a national crisis to the point that our “ trading partners “ wouldn’t or couldn’t cover us when we needed them to . Huge lessons being taught right now ... but will we learn from it or go right back to what we were doing after this is over ?

Leave it to capitalism to F us all. Maybe if the government required mandatory community stockpiles, we wouldn't have this problem. The reason those masks are not made here is purely profit driven.

If the government required mandatory community stockpiles teh only people that would get the stuff within the stockpiles would be the community leaders.

Capitalism is what will pull us out of this, the .gov will do nothing but prolong it.

I'm not against trade with China, I'm against profit being the only motivator for companies and corporations. Subsidies in key sectors and domestic contract fulfillment requirements for national security purposes would do wonders for this pickle.
