I’ve seen some headlines that Ron Johnson is out there saying that suffering 20% unemployment isn’t worth saving 3.4% (11 million) Americans. I didn’t read the article to see what he actually said, because I don’t need to be convinced that Ron Johnson is a jerk, but this just isn’t the same thing as what Loeffler and Burr did.

554 reported multiplied by the 50 exposure rate/person is 27,700 people infected, that doubles every 3 days. That’s best case for the numbers you’re seeing and the likelihood that the reported numbers are correct is extremely low. ED doctors in NYC are already in triage mode too if that makes you feel better. Hell, UT Medical already has triage tents setup in the parking lots outside the ED bay for all the overflow if that helps you scale.

They have had zero over flow, that’s just for precaution.

The problem is a little is not enough. We NEED a federally mandated lockdown for 21 days minimum, probably 30. Leave the bandaid on and then rip it off. Or we can let everyone do as they please while my family, including my trauma doc wife, voluntarily shelters in place because leaders can’t make decisions. My family is high risk because of the life saving work my spouse does, which makes the selfishness of the rest of society infuriating. Do your part! Self isolate NOW!

Which is actually quite concerning. However, that is known cases. We already know that there are likely just as many or more that have it that are never formally diagnosed. So, the actual death rate is likely half that or less for people who contract it. Still, at the rate this thing spreads and the potential for there to be more deadly strains, we should do all we can to stop it.
