One thing to remember is that the closing of the NBA alone has shown its effect on the spread given the incubation is 2-14 days. Let alone all the other closures. So we need to RELAX and revisit in a couple weeks to see if there is a huge dip in infection rate, which there will be, most likely. Stock market needs to quit being bitches and chill out. they are hurting the economy the most, imo.

I don't think it is inherently racist. I don't get that claim.

I do think it is a patently distractionary tactic by Trump and Fox to try to blame someone. I have seen on Fox over the last few days their reporters asking Republican members of Congress what punishment the Chinese should suffer for this. I'm not kidding. And it has been several times.

Its just a cheap effort to create someone to blame (other than Trump for his initially ambivalent response) when we have bigger problems on our hands.

From someone who once rented apartments and houses, and tried to help people through hard times, I 100% believe your experiences with trying to help your employees. Some people cannot be helped. Thankfully, I am now retired, so I no longer own a business and no longer rent anything to anybody.

I checked myself with a historic Google News search and I've seen Corona Virus, Wuhan Virus, Wuhan Corona Virus, COVID-19, and yes, Chinese Virus.

Now that everyone has been calling it several things, the "Trump-Evil" crowd is trying to rewrite history. Did you know that one of the great warnings and themes of the novel 1984 was the effective tyranny of brainwashing people by controlling their vocabulary?

There is more than plenty to accuse Trump of. You guys just lose credibility on the legitimate stuff when you invent bull**** to get wadded up about.

I did not say it was racist. I don't think it is. Its just creating a target for resentment of where it started to substitute and allow deflection away from criticism of Trump.

Don't get me wrong. I think any administration would have been caught largely flat-footed by this. The response would be slow from anyone, at least on the front end.

My criticism is that he could and should have been encouraging people to engage in the tactics he now espouses, but he should have been doing so three weeks ago. Instead of downplaying it because he was worried how it was going to affect him if the stock market went down, he should have listened to the experts earlier and shut up on the minimization.

There is no way to quantify the effects of his demeanor or his words. But I cannot begin to tell you the number of texts I got from Trump supporting friends of mine, or posts I saw on Facebook, that for a solid three weeks echoed the nonsense Trump was saying. Hoax. Overblown. Exaggerated. Media frenzy. The flu is worse.

Heck, you can still see people clinging to that outmoded way of thinking about this within the last 20 posts itt.

I haven't heard much out of Russia so I looked it up. They have 117 cases as of today. I'm surprised the conspiracy theorists haven't zeroed in on Russia as the likely culprit that designed this virus and turned it loose in China knowing it would hit the West hard. They would like nothing more than to see our booming economy crash. .........
